If you’re concerned with keeping your eyes healthy at work, I’ve got some excellent tips to help you do just that!

We spend so much time in front of a computer monitor these days that it’s no wonder that so many of us suffer from computer eye strain!

The symptoms of eye strain include dry or watery eyes, blurred vision, difficulty focusing, headache and a sore neck or back.

Try out some of these helpful tips for keeping your eyes healthy so you can fight back against eye strain!2

1. Take Breaks

Take Breaks

One of the most helpful tips in keeping your eyes healthy as well as preventing computer eye strain is to give yourself breaks!

Every half hour or so, spend some time taking your eyes off the screen and look out of the window at something, file papers, or just sit and close your eyes.

Also, look at something close up as well as far away so you exercise your depth perception.2

Don’t forget to take your lunch away from your desk, also!

2. Blink

Blink

A big part of eye health is to make sure to blink.

It sounds silly, I know.

Blinking is something we typically do involuntarily, but when you spend long periods of time reading or typing on a computer, you tend to blink less.

Blinking also helps lubricate your eyes so if you have dry eyes, it’s even more important to make sure you blink and blink often!

3. Lubricate

Lubricate

If you have dry eyes, in addition to blinking, utilize eye drops to keep your eyes moist.2

Having dry eyes can be really uncomfortable when the air conditioning is blasting or when the heater is in on full force in the winter.

Keep a bottle of artificial tears close by so you don’t have to suffer through dry, irritated eyes all day while you work.
