1. Weight Management

One of the most popular benefits of turmeric is that it can aid our efforts in weight management and may help aid fat metabolism. The Journal of Nutrition published a study by Tufts University that found that curcumin found in turmeric might help prevent the regrowth of fat cells after weight loss. Some people have found that turmeric has helped them shed some pounds, however there are no scientific studies to back that claim up yet.

2. Depression

Another incredible turmeric benefit that many people know about is that it can help in the treatment of depression. Turmeric has long been used in Chinese and Ayuverdic medicine to treat depression; however, clinical studies have only been performed on animals thus far. Those studies did show that turmeric showed a beneficial effect on reducing stress-related depressive symptoms.

3. Psoriasis

Turmeric can be used in a variety of beauty treatments, such as a mask to brighten the skin or help clear up acne. So it’s no surprise that people have turned to the helpful spice to help treat psoriasis. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties which could be helpful in the treatment of psoriasis. Many people have found turmeric to be helpful in treating psoriasis, however there aren’t any clinical studies to back this claim up.

4. Liver Detox

Aside from helping us look better on the outside, turmeric can also help us feel better on the inside. Turmeric has been known to help protect and strengthen the liver, which is one of the three major organs that detoxify the body. According to Dr. Edward Group, the antioxidants in turmeric can help attract free radicals and prevent them from bonding to our organs, which prevents the liver from becoming overloaded and stimulates the production of bile.

What you choose to wear while working out can have a significant impact on your comfort and performance. One essential item is the sports bra. Lack of proper support can lead to discomfort and muscle tissue damage. Choosing a good sports bra can help prevent these problems and ensure a great workout!

5. Natural Painkiller

Did you know that turmeric can be used as a natural painkiller? Yep, another turmeric benefit is that it can be used in lieu of traditional over-the-counter painkillers. Many people have reported the pain relief they’ve experienced from taking turmeric and most find that those with mild to moderate pain experience the most relief.

6. Speeds up Healing of Wounds

Since turmeric has antibacterial and antiseptic qualities, it is believed to be helpful in the treatment of cuts and wounds. Turmeric has been found to help wounds heal faster and even help repair damaged skin. Some find that applying turmeric to a cut or scrape speeds up healing time and also helps skin heal with less scarring!

7. Digestive Issues

Just as turmeric benefits our liver, it also helps us deal with digestive issues. As mentioned previously, turmeric can aid the body in the production of bile, which is key to eliminating toxins, aiding digestion and rejuvenating liver cells. Early research shows that turmeric can be helpful in treating gas and bloating from indigestion.

Turmeric can be used for a variety of reasons but experts caution that using too much can be harmful. Always talk to your doctor before you start taking turmeric supplements and make sure you’re not taking over the recommended dose. Have you ever used turmeric to help with a health condition?
