7 Natural Remedies for Back Chest and Shoulder Acne That Really Work ...

There are many ways that a person can deal with back, chest, and shoulder acne. Some ways can be expensive, abrasive, and very harsh on your skin through the use of harsh chemicals found in most acne products. While these methods prescribed by most doctors will make your acne appear to be gone (if it even does that), it won’t be treating the root cause of your acne. I personally have suffered from acne in these areas ever since I was a teenager. My passion for finding natural alternatives and finding out the cause of my acne developed into these remedies that I have found to get rid of my back, chest, and shoulder acne. These may not work for everyone since everyone’s skin type is different, but these helped me a lot, so hopefully they can work for you as well.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Buying raw apple cider vinegar with the “mother” still in it (my brand of choice is Bragg’s) is my absolute favorite way to deal with acne. I’ve actually applied this to a pimple on my shoulder, and not to get graphic, but the white “head” actually went away in less than 10 minutes! I like to dip a cotton ball lightly in apple cider vinegar and apply it over my back before I take a shower (mostly because it smells bad and I don’t want to smell like vinegar afterwards). This can be too harsh for those with sensitive skin, so diluting the apple cider vinegar in water until you get used to it is suggested. Apple cider vinegar has anti-bacterial properties associated with it that can help get rid of the bacteria that contributes to acne.

2

Blue Clay Soap

I recently purchased some blue clay soap with mint and lavender from herbivorebotanicals.com, and let me tell you this stuff is amazing. Not only does it smell great, but it seems to be really helpful in getting rid of my back, chest, and shoulder acne. I use this every day during my shower. This blue clay soap is said to promote clear skin with its high mineral content, and it only has 5 ingredients as well. If you can’t find blue clay soap, finding a different clay soap from Whole Foods might also work.

3

Dead Sea Salt

Using a high quality sea salt to exfoliate your back, shoulders, and chest can be very helpful. If you have sensitive skin, you might need to do this less or not at all, but exfoliating with dead sea salt will provide more minerals that get absorbed into your skin than using a typical exfoliating scrub. Exfoliating too much is bad for the skin, as it can strip it of necessary oils, so make sure you don’t exfoliate too abrasively or too often. I only do this about once per week, but I did this more when I first started because my acne was worse.

4

Avocado Oil

My favorite way to moisturize my back, shoulders, and chest is with the use of avocado oil. I would always read about how important it was to moisturize my back so that it wouldn’t compensate for dryness by producing excess oils, and thus create more back acne. I thought I would give it a try by applying coconut oil to my back, but it just made it worse. Then I tried putting avocado oil on, and that didn’t work either – until I applied it before my shower (after the apple cider vinegar) and then rinsed it off. It was enough time to get absorbed into my skin, but not get too oily.

5

Juice Beauty Exfoliating Cleanser

This is by far my favorite natural cleanser brand. The ingredients are all astounding in quality, and many of them are organic as well. It contains pineapple enzymes, jojoba beads, and white grape juice to soothe inflamed skin and gently exfoliate as well. I would recommend doing this for daily cleansing, then the sea salt treatment once per week. The timing of using this cleanser is also important – right after washing your hair, because the chemicals and residue leftover from shampoo and conditioner can contribute to back acne as well, so it’s important to get rid of this residue.

Konjac Sponge Exfoliator

This is my favorite applicator to apply the Juice Beauty cleanser with. Most scrub brushes can be too abrasive if you have dry skin, so the Konjac sponge is a great, gentle alternative. You can buy different varieties based on your skin type, but the idea is that you get the sponge wet, put a dab of cleanser on it, and apply it in circular motions over your body for a mild exfoliation. What’s so special about a Konjac sponge? It’s made from Konjac root mixed with clay, which is said to get rid of dirt and bacteria to clean your pores. I use the brand “My Konjac Sponge,” but I’m sure any brand will work well.

Aloe Vera Masks

Creating a mask to apply to your body with fresh aloe vera in it is great for soothing inflamed skin or acne. I like to add fresh aloe vera to the avocado oil above and apply to my back, chest, and shoulders. Then, I let it sit for about 5 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower. If you don’t have access to fresh aloe vera, you can try mixing some of the bottled juice with some avocado oil, or buying a pre-made mask with aloe vera already in it.

I hope some of these natural remedies will help you deal with any back, chest, or shoulder acne you may be experiencing. I used to be embarrassed by my acne and would never wear tank tops (even in private), but I have since learned that most people really don’t care that much about it. Even if they did, who cares? The main focus on getting rid of this acne should be so that you can be healthy. Besides, wearing tank tops seemed to help my back acne because there was less friction to irritate it. My point is, try out these remedies, but don’t be afraid to wear what you want during the healing process like I was! Do you have any natural acne remedies?
