Oatmeal is Your Best Friend

Oatmeal is Your Best Friend Warm food is the perfect way to stay full during the winter, however, you have to pick warm foods that are good for you. That’s where oatmeal comes in. It’s the perfect breakfast to fill you up and warm you up in the mornings. If you aren’t a fan of oatmeal, trying adding some milk to granola and warming up it in the microwave—it may just be revolutionary to your breakfast routine in the winter! A good breakfast is essential to staying healthy, so this is one of the most important ways to stay healthy in the winter!

2

Stick to Winter Vegetables

Stick to Winter Vegetables It’s easier to eat your fruits and vegetables in the summer. When it’s hot, you want to eat refreshing fruits and vegetables. However, there are so many winter vegetables you can eat in the winter that will keep you healthy and full, like carrots, broccoli, and celery that are perfect for soup!

3

Increase Your Vitamin C

Increase Your Vitamin C If you get sick, chances are that you’re going to get sick in the winter. The cold weather doesn’t exactly do wonders for your immune system. If you’re worried about getting sick, increase your vitamin C intake with different citrus fruits, or simply with chewy vitamins. Warning: you may find yourself addicted to your favorite chewy vitamins. They’re just that good!

4

Join a Gym

Join a Gym Working out is fun in the summer. You get to enjoy the warm air, pretty sunrises, and overall good weather. However, in the winter, the exact opposite is true. The idea of getting out of your warm bed to run down icy sidewalks at 6 am is not exactly appealing. To motivate yourself to work out, join a gym. Gyms offer more than your treadmill in the basement, and you may even find a group of friends to motivate you to keep going!

5

Eat Soup, but Not the Bad Kind

Eat Soup, but Not the Bad Kind Soup is a winter staple. There’s no getting around that. There’s nothing like coming home to a hot bowl of soup after you’ve spent the day braving the harsh cold. That being said, you also have to be careful what kind of soups you’re eating. Try to stay away from cream-based soups, like potato soup or lobster bisque. Instead, try vegetable-broth based soups with your favorite winter vegetables!

Stay Motivated

Stay Motivated It can be hard to be motivated in the winter. You’re not really seeing immediate results all the time, because you wear so many layers during the day. One of the most important aspects of staying healthy in the winter is just motivating yourself to do so!

7

Set Smaller Goals

Set Smaller Goals Rather than set one big goal, like getting ready for bikini season that you might forget about, set smaller, monthly goals. Even if you’re not trying to lose weight, setting smaller monthly goals will keep you on the right track in the winter!

#1 should be wash your hands. That is the best and most effective was to prevent illness.

I don't think getting a gym membership works for many people. At the beginning of the year, they think it's a good idea but there isn't really any incentive to continue. I would suggest it should be something they want to do that they can progress in like doing a martial art or being in a theatre production.
