1

Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst habits someone can have! Not only is the smell horrifying to those who don't smoke, but it's harmful to the smoker. Statistics show that for many, the time cut off their lifespan is equal to the time spent smoking! Health problems from bad teeth, gum disease, breathing problems, lung disorders and cancer, infertility, and death are caused by the harmful habit called smoking.

2

Alcohol

While we're on the "harmful to your body" part of this article, I may as well include drinking alcohol to the list. While the short-term effects of alcohol don't seem "so bad" the long-term effects are a different story. Loss of brain cells, stomach ulcers, liver failure and cancer are a few of them. It's a very serious habit - addiction, more or less - that shouldn't be taken lightly.

3

Nail Biting

Seems innocent enough, right? Wrong! Nail biting is opening yet another door to harm on your body. Aside from the sadly short nails, a nail biter faces the possibility of having infections in both the nail area and in the mouth! The herpes virus has been found to spread from hand to mouth with this nasty little habit!

Late Night Snacking

I know, I know, it's hard! I'm snacking right now on M&M's and Fritos, and it's 11 p.m.! But working late on articles just seems to go so well with a snack! (Same goes for movie night!) However, it's not healthy at all! In all honesty, you shouldn't eat any later than 6 p.m. in order to allow your body to completely digest your day's food, and go to bed on an empty stomach. It isn't good to lay down while you're body is trying to work. Your body's functions, including metabolism, slows down at night, thus not totally digesting your food. In the end, you will suffer heartburn all night long, and gain weight.

5

Procrastination

Do what you said you would do when you say you will do it. Don't wait until it's in the past to do what you're supposed to do. However disgusting the chore may be, however aggravating the person may be that you have to confront, it never gets any easier with time. A chore is a chore - no matter what. So just buckle down and get it done!

Eat Healthy

In all reality, this tip is harder said then done. When you are accustomed to eating fast food, junk food, and boxed foods from the sorcery store, changing to healthy foods may be harder than you think. But when you eat right, you will find your self feeling better, as well as really being healthier.

7

Exercise

Yes, that s a bad word to many, but exercise is definitely a shortcut to better health. Technically, it may not really be a shortcut because exercise is tough work. But it is good for you and you will reap the benefits of exercise in the long run.

How do you promote a healthier life style? These shortcuts to better health may be just what you are looking for! If not, what do you do to make your life more healthy?
