3. Clean Your House
I know this may sound silly, but if you decide to quit smoking, it’s very important to have a clean, fresh breathing air in your home or at work or wherever you may go. To not give into temptation you should definitely avoid the smell of tobacco. That’s why you should start cleaning right away! Wash all your clothes, your curtains, drapes or other objects that may smell like cigarettes. Use air fresheners, incense sticks or scented candles!
If you want to give up smoking, you must be aware of the fact that by exercising you can significantly decrease the intensity of the symptoms caused by the lack of nicotine in your body. 5. Eat a Lot of Fruits and Vegetables
I don’t know if you already knew this, but I found it to be very interesting: the scientists from Duke University advise people who try to quit smoking to eat as many fruits and vegetables (or even fat-free dairy products) as possible, because, besides all the nutrients that they’re containing, they will also give you the impression that tobacco has a very very unpleasant taste and thus, you won’t feel the need to light up a smoke. Very tricky and clever, I might say, and especially, very easy to do. Just give it a try!
6. Drink Lots of Water
A lot of the counselors and psychotherapists that help people give up smoking; advise them to drink a glass of water every time they feel the need to light up a cigarette. Apparently, that glass of water can work wonders because it can immediately push back your urge to smoke. So, give it a try! You will also benefit from the other wonderful advantages of drinking a lot of water every day.
7. Brush Your Teeth More Often
This particular tip has, besides helping you quit this nasty habit, all sorts of amazing benefits towards obtaining a great oral hygiene. Try brushing your teeth every time you eat something, whether it’s a snack or a meal and that minty flavor of your toothpaste will not allow you to smoke your usual after-lunch cigarette. This works like a charm every single time!
8. Mint Candy and Chewing-Gum
Whenever you feel the need to smoke, you can try having a mint candy or a mint chewing gum and you will see how quickly will disappear that burning desire to smoke. You should be careful not to chew too much mint gum because it may cause you gastric disorders or it can have a laxative effect and you wouldn’t want that. So, use this tip wisely and don’t forget about moderation!
