Pop Probiotics

Pop Probiotics A bacterial imbalance in the body can cause overall body odor, along with halitosis, so one of the first ways to get rid of halitosis is to improve the bacteria in your gut with probiotics. Probiotics, which are simply supplements that provide your body with good bacteria, helping to fight off bacterial imbalances that can lead to halitosis or body odor. For an inexpensive brand that doesn’t contain artificial ingredients or harmful fillers, try Phillip's Colon Health, which is excellent, inexpensive, and effective. There are many other effective brands as well if you're interested.

Eat More Parsley

Eat More Parsley One simple way to freshen your breath is to add parsley to your diet. It is rich in compounds that freshen the breath and clear bacteria from the body. It is also a natural detoxifying food, so it can help rid bacteria from the body where it starts. You can add it to meals, smoothies, or even juice with it. Chewing it after a meal is another option.

3

Eat Clean

Eat Clean If your diet is rich in sugars, processed fats, and a lot of meat, halitosis will occur. These foods promote bacterial overgrowth in the body, which can lead to halitosis. To clean your body up and keep it that way, you need to eat clean foods. Sugars, processed fats and animal products are acidic to the body, which can cause your breath to stink. They’re also contributors to inflammation, so getting rid of them won’t only help your breath, but your overall energy, weight and mood too.

4

Eat More Vegetables

Eat More Vegetables Vegetables are natural cleansers to the body so they can help your body naturally clean itself out, and your mouth in the meantime. Crunchy foods like celery, carrots, cucumbers, and bell peppers all clean your teeth even as you eat them, removing debris and nourishing your cells. They’re easy to add to any meal and great to eat as a snack!

5

Try Sage

Try Sage Sage is one of my favorite herbs to use on roasted veggies, in soups and as a marinade for fish and such. It is also an excellent herb to freshen the breath, and used in many Italian blends of spices for that specific purpose.

Avoid Sulfur-rich Foods

Avoid Sulfur-rich Foods Some foods contain a natural compound known as sulfur, and these foods include eggs, garlic, and onions to name the main culprits. While these foods may be excellent for you, as sulfur is great for your liver, they also contribute to bad breath. If I eat garlic, personally, I’ll suffer all week long. Sulfur can cause your body and mouth to omit an odor, even though it is healthy for you. It is very potent and doesn’t go away with just brushing your teeth. Avoiding foods containing sulfur is key to maintaining fresh breath on a regular basis.

7

Brush after Every Meal

Brush after Every Meal One tip you can try is to brush your teeth after every meal. This keeps food from sitting in your teeth after meals, which causes bacteria to develop, causing your breath to become quite stinky in a short amount of time.

8

Use Peppermint

Use Peppermint Peppermint is one of the strongest and best natural remedies for freshening your breath. Use a tiny drop of food grade peppermint oil or extract in smoothies, hot cocoa for a minty twist, or even in hot tea. You can also just add a drop on your tongue after meals if you like. Or, drink peppermint tea liberally and make a homemade mouth wash with water, peppermint oil and baking soda. Mix it up, swish around in your mouth, and give yourself fresh breath the natural way.

9

Oil Pull

Oil Pull Have you heard of oil pulling? This is an ancient practice used in Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese medicine. It involves nothing more than swishing coconut oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes- 30 minutes when you first wake up each morning. It can be tiring to your mouth at first, but is said to work wonders for halitosis. Just be careful not to swallow the oil and spit it out after you get done. Coconut oil is a natural antibacterial agent and detoxifying food. It can also help remove bacteria from your body and fight off fungus species of multiple kinds. Many people swear by this, so try it for yourself and see!

10

Avoid Sugar-free Gum

Avoid Sugar-free Gum You may think this sounds odd, but chewing that minty sugar-free gum can actually contribute to the problem, even if it masks it for a short time. Sugar-free gum contains tons of chemicals, artificial sweeteners and terrible preservatives that harm your liver, digestive tract and contribute to bacterial overgrowth. This is the last thing you want in helping to remove bacteria from your body to start with. It is much better to simply use a drop of peppermint oil on your tongue after meals instead.

11

Alkalize Your Diet

Alkalize Your Diet An overall acidic body or mouth will contribute to bad breath, so try an alkalizing diet. This involves lots of fresh, raw foods, and cooked root vegetables like sweet potatoes, squash and carrots. Eat lots of salads and keep animal protein to a minimum of fish, preferably seasoned without garlic or onions. Drink raw vegetable juice if you can and lots of water with lemon. Implement green smoothies and raw vegetables whenever possible. Alkalizing your body is one of the easiest and best ways to clean up your mouth and your body quickly.
