There are several things to do for high anxiety that can calm you down. People with high anxiety problems have to suffer in a constant panic every day of their lives. The littlest thing can bother them and torture them until that issue goes away. So if you have high anxiety, take a deep breath and read these few things to do for high anxiety that really help.

1. Sleep

Sleep is one of the best things to do for high anxiety. If you are constantly tired, you won’t be as productive as you would be if you were if you were completely awake. If you have trouble falling asleep because of your anxiety, try drinking some tea or exercising before bed to tire yourself out.

2. Exercise

One way that I got rid of a lot of my anxiety was running. I eventually got to the point where I was running seven miles a day because it made me feel so good. By exercising, you remain calm more often while getting physically fit at the same time.

3. Avoid Caffeine

People with high anxiety usually have heightened senses that need to be lowered. Coffee and caffeine will only make things worse. Caffeine makes you feel hyper and even shaky. People with high anxiety should stick to tea and water.

4. Understand That Other People Don’t Understand You

People who don’t have high anxiety don’t understand what we mean when we say that we feel anxious. They think that it’s just regular stress. There really isn’t a way to explain to people how much anxiety you actually feel. My boyfriend tries to help me whenever I have anxiety attacks, but he’ll never understand that it’s something I deal with every day and I can’t get rid of it. One huge way to get rid of anxiety is to get rid of all of the bad stuff in your life. Negative people are not needed, so get rid of them. There is no reason for anyone to bring you down or make fun of you. If your lawnmower has been broken for months and you can’t seem to fix it, get rid of it and get a new one. If there is no problem, there is nothing for you to be mentally tortured about.

6. Breathe

This has to be the one thing that people always tell their friends with high anxiety. But the truth is that taking a deep breath actually works. When people have anxiety attacks, they tend to hyperventilate and can pass out. Taking deep breaths will regulate the oxygen going to your heart and will calm you down.

7. Problem Solve

The main reason for anxiety is being overwhelmed with problems. So solve them! Make a to do list and bang out one task at a time. Like I said before, the less problems you have the less you have to stress you out.
