1

Decreases with Age

Personally, I think one of the most important things to know about DHEA is that it decreases with age. This is one reason many women have issues with a sluggish libido, metabolism, and often develop depression as they get older. Because DHEA produces both estrogen and testosterone in the body, natural bodily functions that work off these hormones also decrease.

2

It Can’t Be Consumed through Foods

Many vitamins and nutrients in the body can be eaten through a varietal diet, full of nutrition-rich foods, yet DHEA cannot. It isn’t possible to “eat your way” to enough DHEA like it is with protein, calcium, B vitamins, etc.

3

Adrenal Health

Because DHEA is produced in our adrenal glands, it also optimizes how our adrenals function. In case you didn’t know, your adrenal glands, located right above your kidneys, are responsible for a huge number of responses, factors, and processes in your body. These glands control how tired you are, how you feel mentally, inflammation levels, your libido and more. It is essential to take care of them through a well balanced, diet, an alkaline diet, and a low stress lifestyle.

4

Supplements Can Help

Luckily, DHEA can easily be supplemented to help optimize your energy, weight, mood, and your libido. Most women notice a huge difference when taking DHEA, especially during or after, menopause. I have noticed a huge difference in my sense of well being, anxiety, and my hormones seem to be balanced, which helps me fight off depression more efficiently. I am naturally prone to depression and anxiety, so this has been such a positive experience for me. Yet, I’m not the only one with testimonies on DHEA. Many women supportive of natural hormone treatment options are also seeing the benefits.

A Little Goes a Long Way

A 15-100 mg. supplement is usually the best range to take for DHEA supplementation. A little goes a long way, so start out small, and increase as needed.

Menstrual Cycle

Do note that DHEA will not bring back your menstrual cycle if you have already been through menopause, nor will it affect your current menstrual phase if you are still having your period. Again, DHEA supplements are not synthetic estrogens, and shouldn’t be confused with them.

7

It Slows Aging

Because DHEA optimizes hormone levels, it can also slow the aging process in the body. It rejuvenates the body on an entirely new level, accordinging to Dr. Norman Shealy, author of the book, “DHEA: The Youth and Health Hormone.” Though it acts as a hormone in itself, it is unlike any other hormone supplementation out there.

Be sure if you choose to buy a DHEA supplement, you choose one of the highest quality. I prefer Jarrow Formulas brand, free of all common allergens, and it comes in the form of 7-Keto DHEA, which is the most optimal variety for best absorption. You can find a link for it below through iHerb.com or purchase it at your local health food store. Have you ever heard of DHEA?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Can you use this with an IUD? Every time I bring any of these issues ( low sec drive despite being happily engaged), anxiety and just feeling kinda iky in general she blows me off and tells me it is normal for a 25 yr old woman who has been divorced.....

Damn auto correct * every time I try to bring up any of these issues with my Gyno*

I use to take DHEA regularly..infact I still have some now, but I stopped taking it when I started experiencing problems with my cycle. However I loved how it affected my sex life ( words cannot explain). Older women are affected by an increase in the male hormone testosterone more so, because their bodies are not producing as much Estrogen..so pre or post menopausal women Must take great care to take a much lower milligram of DHEA..because it primarily boost testerone levels & estrogen but to a lesser degree..DHEA may cause you to experince male pattern baldness (which was the deal breaker for me) bcuz of the spike in testostrone producing more DHT which is responsible for baldness..So please ladies if you must take this feel good pill..take great care to take a lower dosage..
