7 Tips for Increasing Your Water Intake ...

By Jordin

Increasing your water intake is crucial to staying hydrated, flushing out toxins, and even aiding with weight loss! Drinking enough water ensures that your body functions smoothly and properly. However, increasing your water intake isn’t all that easy if you’re like me and get bored with water, get busy and forget to sip your water, or crave sodas halfway through the day! Here are a few things I do to increase my water intake when these sorts of cravings or botherations arise!

1

Make Water More Accessible

Increasing your water intake won’t be easy at all if the first thing you see when you open your fridge is a bottle of Coke or a pitcher of juice! The first thing you need to do is get those items out of sight, like at the back of the fridge or better yet, toss them entirely! The next step is to make sure you have a clean water source ready at hand. Bottled water, a Brita pitcher, or a water filter are a few good ideas of ways to have clean, cold water ready as soon as thirst hits!

2

Add Fresh Fruit

Add a little flavor to your water by infusing it with fresh fruit! Strawberries, lemons, oranges, limes, blueberries, or cucumbers are all good choices to slice up and drop into your glass. Plus, it gives you something pretty to look at and adds extra vitamins and nutrients to your water!

3

Have Water-to-go Ready in the Fridge

I don’t know about you, but my busy days are the worst when it comes to drinking water. I literally get so busy that I forget to drink up! My remedy for this problem has been to keep water-to-go ready in my fridge! That way I can grab a bottle, throw it in my bag, and have water available to sip driving down the road, sitting in a waiting room, or waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store.

4

Don’t Gulp It All at Once

The key to drinking enough water is to not wait until you’re thirsty. Start sipping early in the day, and just leisurely sip all day long. Gulping it all at once can be daunting, so take it easy! Don’t make drinking enough water a chore!

5

Eat More Water Enriched Foods

Here’s a sneaky way to fit in a little bonus water. Eat water-enriched food, like watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, or strawberries! These foods have a lot of water in them, so it’s like an extra burst of water (and energy and flavor!)

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Have a Glass of Water before Each Meal

Having an 8 oz. glass of water before each meal will do multiple things for you. First of all, it’s an extra 24 oz. of water slipped into your day! Secondly, it will aid in digestion. And thirdly, it will help you not to overeat! Winning all the way around!

Set up “Water Stations”

This may sound a little bit funny, but it works for me, so I will share this tip. I tend to get annoyed by having to stop and fill up my water bottle or run to the kitchen in the middle of something, so I figured out that if I have water available throughout the day, I would drink more! I fill up 3-4 reusable water bottles with ice and water at the start of each day, and then place them at different areas I frequent a lot. For example, a few places I leave a cup of water are my work desk, my bedroom, the living room, and so on.

These tips have been helpful for me as I try to fit in my “daily quota” of water! Drinking water is easy enough, but it can turn into a dreaded task especially for those who enjoy sodas and juice more than water. I hope these tips are helpful for you as you guzzle down today! What do you do to ensure that your water intake is sufficient throughout the day?

very useful tips ❤️

I also like to have a reusable bottle I then I have 8 rubber bracelets around my wrist when I finish the bottle I take one bracelet off and put it around the water bottle it's just a little reminder on how much to drink

very useful and cool tips! thank

Excellent tips, thanks😄

Sara, having water an hour to 45 minutes before meal is good enough..

6 is wrong. I flushes out the thing in our saliva that starts to break down the food so it's actually bad for the digestion to drink water before eating.
