1. Take a Bath

One of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to take a little time for yourself. If you’re able, use bath bombs, salts, bubbles, essential oils, candles, and any other things that will help you relax.

2. Read

Read whatever you can - your favorite book, a magazine, billboards as you drive or the back of the cereal box. Let the written word distract you from your anxiety.

3. Take a Few Deep Breaths

Breathe in. Breath out. Deep breathing is a great way to center yourself when you’re anxious. If you look on the internet, you can find some great tutorials on breathing patterns. One of my favorites is breathing in for four counts, holding your breath for four counts, and exhaling for six counts. Find what works for you.

4. Have a Cup of Tea

I don’t know about you, but there’s just something about a hot cup of tea that just relaxes me. One suggestion is to have a kind of tea that is caffeine free, since caffeine can further your anxiety.

What you choose to wear while working out can have a significant impact on your comfort and performance. One essential item is the sports bra. Lack of proper support can lead to discomfort and muscle tissue damage. Choosing a good sports bra can help prevent these problems and ensure a great workout!

5. Take a Walk

Put on your walking shoes, and get some fresh air. Distract yourself by walking a little faster, and getting your heart rate up. You can also walk with the purpose of observing your surroundings and focusing on and contemplating that instead.

6. Journal

If you don’t have a formal journal, grab a piece of paper. Writing down whatever’s bothering you, how you’re feeling, and/or what triggered the anxiety, can help you put everything in perspective and make you feel a bit better.

7. Listen to Music

Listen to some music that makes you feel good. Upbeat music that makes you want to dance, or calm slower music you can unwind to. Or, maybe a mixture of both, or something completely different! Find what works for you.

8. Watch a Funny TV Show

Sometimes, laughter really is the best medicine. Put on some Netflix, let loose, and LOL. My personal suggestion is Parks and Recreation, but I also love The Office, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, How I Met Your Mother, and Friends. If none of those sound appealing to you, there are countless other options, including movies and stand up comedy.

9. Color

Coloring isn’t just for kids anymore. You can find adult coloring books at almost any store. Pick your favorite (maybe it’s a kids’ one… who cares!), get some coloring pencils or crayons, and color away your stress.

10. Do Yoga

This is one of my personal favorites. I love doing some simple yoga when I’m anxious. You can find some great videos on YouTube and Pinterest!
