1. Use a Soft Brush
One of the most important toothbrush tips is about the choice of brush. It is recommended to use a soft toothbrush, rather than a medium or hard brush. While you might feel like a soft brush does not clean as well as a harder one, dentists have found that hard toothbrushes can damage the enamel on your teeth as well as irritating your gums.
2. Small Head, Long Handle
You want to make sure that your toothbrush has a small head, which is easily manoeuvrable, and a long handle which will allow you to reach all corners of your mouth. This is important, as if you use a large head you won’t be able to reach into the smaller parts of your mouth and therefore might find that you are not cleaning well enough.

If the bristles become frayed, replace it even sooner; a new toothbrush is much more effective than an old, frayed one. The number of bacteria and germs which lurk on your toothbrush will multiply many times when you have had a cold or the flu. Replace your toothbrush or clean it overnight in alcohol to kill the additional germs off.
9. Keep It Away from the Toilet
If you keep your toothbrush in the bathroom (which most of us do), either keep the head covered or make sure that it is away from the dirtiest parts of the bathroom such as the toilet bowl. When you flush the toilet, bacteria are sent flying around the room; if they land on your toothbrush, you are spreading the bacteria to your mouth!
