If you are feeling stressed, you may be looking for ways to help you unwind at night. Many people feel this way after a long day at work. It’s okay. Stress is normal, and knowing ways to help you unwind at night to relieve that stress is great. While we all have our favorite ways to kick back and relax, it doesn’t hurt to have a few more options.
1. Make a to-do List
I know it seems like the opposite thing to do when trying to find ways to help you unwind at night, but someone people have a mind that won’t stop racing with ideas for tomorrow. Take a moment and create a list of things that need to be completed tomorrow and then do your very best to worry about that list TOMORROW.
2. Have Some Fun!
You worked hard all day, now is time to have a little fun. Think like a kid for a minute and choose one of your favorite childhood activities to unwind. Color, finger paint, go to the park for a swing, play a game of tag, or watch a funny cartoon. It’s even better if you have kids to enjoy these activities with you. It’s a win-win for everyone. You get to relax and the kids get to have a fun time with Mom.
I don’t know about you, but I love yoga as a way to relax my mind and body. There is something about the gentle movements and holding poses that relieves tension and lets me get away for a moment. As an added bonus, yoga is also a great way to increase flexibility and build strength.
4. Have a Gab Fest
I love talking to my girlfriends. Our busy schedules can make getting together a challenge, but we seem to always find time to have a nice chat on the phone. Even just 15 minutes of good chatter and laughter can ease some serious tension and raise my spirits. It also helps me transition from being busy and on-the-go to calm and relaxed.
Our bodies can take a beating throughout the day. A nice massage is a good way to unwind. On especially rough days, I like to pamper myself with a nice foot rub. Sometimes my husband and I will make an exchange. He will give me a foot rub if I agree to massage his neck and shoulders.
Always having a good book to snuggle up with is a wonderful idea. Reading can help you escape the real world and get lost in a fantasy world. What are some of your favorite books to help you relax at night?
