There are so many easy and effective ways to keep from getting sick this summer. I know a lot of people who have already spent the first few weeks of the season sick in bed. Trust me, it is NO fun to be sick in bed while everyone else is out and about! Check out some of these easy ways to keep from getting sick and then let me know which ways you choose to stay healthy.

Wash Your Hands Constantly

The most effective way to combat germs is by washing your hands often! Every time you touch a door, knob, stair railing, etc., you might be coming into contact with a virus. By washing your hands frequently, you can minimize your chances of getting sick. Pick up one of those pocket-sized hand-sanitizers and you'll always be able to have clean hands! This is just one of the effective ways to keep from getting sick.

Keep Cool

Summer time means warmer weather but that doesn't mean you should be spending all of your time out in the sun. Make sure you can take a break, wherever you are, and find some shade. For example, if you're going hiking, make sure you bring lots of liquids to stay hydrated, and even some sunglasses and a hat! Too much time in the sun can lead to a heat stroke!

Say No to Stress

Stress can actually lower your body's overall immunity. If you find yourself constantly worrying, make sure you find some time to relax. Keeping a positive attitude and staying cool, calm, and collected can help keep you healthy! A fun thing to consider trying this summer is yoga - that'll keep your mind and body at peace.

Get in Some Exercise

Don't forget about the importance of exercise! It's another effective way to get rid of stress. It'll calm your mind and boost your immune system. Overall, exercise will help you get healthier and there are so many easy ways to add some exercise into your life this summer. For example, there's swimming, taking walks in the park, yoga, and more!

Get Some Sleep

It's easy to become a night owl during the summer time. I used to find myself awake at 4 AM binge-watching a show on Netflix and that was no good. You should always get 7 to 8 hours of sleep EACH night! A good night's rest can boost your immunity and leave you feeling healthy and refreshed.

Avoiding Contact with Sick People

This might seem obvious but I figured I'd throw this in here anyway. Sometimes it's hard to avoid contact with someone that's sick, especially if that person's in your household. If that's the case, confine yourself to your own personal space. Don't think that you're invincible! If you spend too much time around someone with the flu, chances are you'll be getting the flu.

Don't Touch Your Face

Even if your hands are relatively clean, some germs will find a way to survive there. The easiest place to transmit illness is through mucous membranes such as your eyes, mouth, and nose. So, try your best to keep your hands away from your face (and food) and make it difficult for germs to find you.
