7 Ways to Perform Self-hypnosis ...

If you’ve ever wondered about ways to perform self-hypnosis or even wondered about hypnosis at all, you’ve come to the right place. 1. Find a Comfortable Place to Sit

Sitting up in a comfortable chair or even a reclined chair is one of the first ways to perform self-hypnosis. Keep the lights dim in either a quiet room or one with ambient noise. Relax and start to take three deep breaths to signal to your brain that you’re starting hypnosis.

2. Relax Your Body

After you take three deep breaths, calm your breaths to a normal breathing pattern. Visualize your feet and a white bubbling light coming in to wash inside and out of your feet. Imagine this liquid light as it goes slowly up your body, washing away any toxins and making you feel lighter.

3. Imagine a Staircase

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Once your body feels light, imagine you’re at the top of a staircase with ten steps. Tell your mind that as you descend down each step, you’re going deeper and deeper into your subconscious. This tells your brain to keep relaxing and to open up to whatever it is you want to tell it later.

4. Imagine a Forest

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Once you’ve come to the bottom of the staircase, see a door. Open the door and see a forest, beach or whatever natural state you’d like to be in. Walk outside and look around. See a treasure chest sitting nearby. Go to it and open it. Inside it will tell you what you’d like to change in your mind. If you’re looking to lose weight, imagine that it says, “I’m am losing weight and becoming the healthiest version of myself.” Keep the sentence positive towards whatever goal it is that you’d like to achieve.

5. Imagine Yourself That Way

Once you’ve read the sentence, see the image play out. See yourself in a bikini running on a beach. See yourself with your perfect mate. See yourself with more than enough money in the bank. Whatever it is, see it happening. It should feel so real that you think it’s already happened. Stay here as long as you’d like as you tell your brain what you want. If it helps, set a timer for twenty minutes from the time you start to go under to tell you when to come back up. You don’t want to be under for hours.

6. Go Back to the Staircase

Now turn back to the door you came out of and go back to the staircase. As you walk up each step, feel yourself coming more and more out of your trance and becoming more and more awake. Tell yourself at the top of the steps, “I’m wide awake now. I’m wide awake and alert.”

7. Open Your Eyes

Open your eyes and look around you. Do you feel like you’ve just woken up from sleeping? Did you notice yourself having a hard time going under and feeling like you were aware the whole time? That’s all normal. In the beginning it won’t feel any different than relaxing, but in time you’ll notice that whatever the reason you’re going under for, it will start to slowly come about in your life. Maybe you’re a little bit thinner because you’ve bypassed the chips and salsa? Or, maybe you feel more confident when attractive men talk to you and ask for you number.

Hypnosis, done either with a trained professional or by yourself, is a really remarkable way to train your brain. It may feel like nothing is happening but in time you’ll start to see the results, and like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, you might even forget what you went under to work on in the first place because you’ve changed it!
