Urinary tract infections happen, but if you're suffering more than most, there are some easy ways to prevent a UTI that you need to know about. Women are more likely to contract a UTI than men because their urethra (where urine passes through from the bladder) is shorter. So bacteria can pass up more quickly than a woman can 'flush' it back out.
1. ALWAYS WIPE FRONT to BACK!
If your Mama didn't teach you this (or she did and you didn't think it was important) then start doing it now. If you wipe back to front you are literally spreading around nasty bacteria. Stop doing it! One of the easiest ways to prevent a UTI is to wipe front to back.
2. DON'T WEAR a G-STRING for LONGER than a DAY
Sometimes you gotta to sacrifice panty lines for your health. As you move throughout the day you panties can rub back and forth, spreading bacteria, it doesn't matter how 'clean' you are.
3. CHANGE YOUR PAD
Menstruation sucks, but if you're sitting in a soggy pad it can get a whole lot worse. Bacteria breeds in the heat and moisture. So, having a clean fresh pad will prevent a nasty infection.
4. URINATE after SEXUAL INTERCOURSE
Intercourse can get pretty moist, so make sure you clean yourself up afterwards. The easiest way to prevent a UTI is to pee straight after sex. There are mixed bodily fluids afterward, which can overload your system and result in a urinary tract infection.
5. HOW to QUICKLY GET RID of a UTI
Take some water soluble Ural (available from local pharmacy- prescription free) and drink a lot of water. Chug down three or four glasses so that you fill your bladder and 'flush out' your system. Also, see your doctor - you may need an antibiotic to get rid of your UTI.
Good luck and let me know if this helped you.
