Oil Infused Lotions

One of the ways to use essential oils is by making your own lotion. Because of the concentration level of essential oils, you only need just a few drops in whatever product you are making. Lotion is a wonderful product that we use on a daily basis that generally has loads of chemicals, drying agents and toxins that aren't beneficial for the body. Using essential oils within a carrier (like jojoba oil or Shea butter) is a much better and healthier alternative to your perfumed lotion products. For headache relief, jojoba oil, peppermint essential oil, frankincense essential oil (which is expensive but amazing) and lemon essential oil work well together. You can rub the product on your neck but avoid your face as these oils can irritate sensitive regions. For a simple lotion, you can combine Shea butter with lavender essential oil, which has a wonderful calming effect.

UPD:

Essential oils are becoming increasingly popular for their therapeutic and healing benefits. They can be used in a variety of ways, including in everyday products such as lotions, shampoos, and soaps. Essential oils are highly concentrated and only a few drops are needed for each product. Making your own lotion with essential oils is a great way to avoid harsh chemicals, drying agents, and toxins found in many commercial products.

For headache relief, a combination of jojoba oil, peppermint essential oil, frankincense essential oil, and lemon essential oil can be used. When applying the product to the body, it is best to avoid the face as essential oils can irritate sensitive areas. For a calming effect, Shea butter and lavender essential oil can be combined.

In addition to lotions, essential oils can be used to create other everyday products. For example, adding a few drops of essential oil to shampoo can provide a pleasant scent and provide therapeutic benefits. Essential oils can also be added to soaps, bath bombs, and body scrubs. For a more natural deodorant, essential oils can be combined with baking soda and coconut oil.

Hand-Sanitizing Spray

Did you know that most hand sanitizers are actually not good for you? Sure, they work when you're stuck without soap and water and are desperate- however, they not only kill the bad bugs on your hands, they also kill all the good natural flora that's used to fight against foreign invaders. So in reality, you're stripping your skin of its natural defenses against infection and thus creating resistant super-bugs- yikes!! Antibacterial soaps, cleaners and detergents also have the same effect, so stay away from these as much as possible. The good news is there are ways to use essential oils to create your own hand sanitizer that has antimicrobial properties but will preserve your skin's natural flora and soothe your skin. Aloe vera gel, Vitamin E oil and tea tree (Melaleuca) oil work as a good base for your hand-sanitizing needs! You may choose to add other oils for added benefits as well, and remember to select a small glass spray bottle for easy transport.

Baby Wipes

Most commonly known brand-named baby wipes have harsh chemicals, preservatives and skin irritants that aren't good for baby's gentle skin needs. Most shocking are the ingredients linked to immunotoxicity, organ dysfunction and cancer. My son had a lot of issues with the alcohol in baby wipes that would always sting if there was a slight rash. The good news is you can make your own baby wipes with essential oils that are inexpensive and easy! All you need are paper towels, a plastic container, water, aloe, which hazel, castle soap and essential oils!

4

Bath Salts

I love soaking in a bath with refreshing bath salts. Unfortunately these store-bought salts tend to be loaded with chemicals, especially when there fragrance is added. I know it's hard to completely eliminate toxins from our lives, however there are super easy and inexpensive ways to do so with everyday products like bath salts! It's as easy as adding Epsom salt to your bath along with a few drops of your favorite essential oils, like lavender or chamomile.

5

Body Scrubs

Each holiday season, I like to make a simple gift for all the women in the family. Last year I made these hand scrubs with essential oils, herbs and moisturizing coconut oil that left the hands soft and supple. I did a peppermint oil salt scrub with a combination of large and small grains of salt (you don't want all large as they can tear the skin) and coconut oil. I also did lavender essential oil with sage and rosemary along with salts and coconut oil. I would suggest actually using a liquid oil because coconut oil is solid at room temperature and difficult to work with in a solid scrub. You can use any combination that you want to customize your scrubs for your individual needs.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Toilet Cleaner

Nobody loves cleaning the toilet- it's disgusting and almost an oxymoron because it's going to be dirty the first time someone uses it after it's been cleaned! But, if you don't want staining and dingy water rings, then you need to clean it for appearances! Vinegar is a wonderful cleaning agent as well as baking soda, castle soap and orange essential oil. It smells nice, cleans well and doesn't have the harshness and nasty fumes of bleach or Comet. And don't forget to wipe down the outside of the toilet, which does need disinfecting for little hands that may touch it.

7

Surface Cleaners

I don't love the smell of surface cleaners. They smell sterile and harsh and have tons of nasty chemicals that could end up in your food, on you hands and ultimately in your body. No thanks! We currently use an all-natural green cleaner which you could easily do as well- however, another awesome alternative is to make your own cleaner and cleaning wipes with essential oils! Use the same base as you would for the toilet cleaner and baby wipes and just add different essential oils like tea tree for its microbial properties.

8

Laundry Soap

You wouldn't believe how cheap laundry soap is when you make it yourself! Not only that, most laundry products are terrible irritants for your skin and harmful for the environment. Eucalyptus oil is amazing for bedding and getting rid of dust mites, which are pesky and gross. You can use any oils for whatever needs you may have, such as thieves oil, which is antimicrobial. Just add your oils to a combination of borax, baking soda and shaved bar soap (organic) for a powder detergent. If you prefer a liquid detergent, then you can opt for castle soap with white distilled vinegar and your essential oils for scent and purpose.

The great thing about using essential oils in everyday products is that the base formulas for most cleaning products are the same, so they are super versatile. Just make sure when you are using essential oils for any skin care and laundry needs, to use the pure grade formulas that can be used internally. These are free of additives and alcohols. The only thing with using eos in laundry is they are oils and can leave oil stains on certain clothing. Love the other suggestions!!!
