1 Day One: Embrace Hydration!
According to dr. Murad, ««Healthy, hydrated cells are the key to ageless skin and a healthy body,» so keep your skin hydrated and happy by drinking plenty of water, and by adding five servings of fresh fruits to your daily diet. Want to take it a step further? Eliminate processed foods from your diet. That's the first step in any alternative to a detox: get rid of the bad, add the good!
2 Day Two: Add These Supplements
Even if you’re following a healthy diet, you may still be missing key nutrients needed for healthy, youthful-looking skin. Add a supplement (or a team of supplements) that provides you with 500 mg omega-3, lecithin supplement with 2,000 mg lecithin, 1,200 mg of either glucosamine sulfate or glucosamine hydrochloride, and the set of anti-oxidant vitamins (A,C and E). These will add what you need to your body, another vital step in an alternative to a detox.
3 Day Three: Get up and Move!
Add regular exercise to your weekly routine, but make sure it’s exercise you actually enjoy, or you might not be as committed to it as you need to be. Do this exercise at least four days a week, for about an hour a day.
4 Day Four: Get, and Stay, Positive
Dr. Murad also suggests keeping a daily journal to help you get, and stay, positive. Some key questions to ask yourself as you gather your thoughts: 1) What would you do if you knew you could not fail?, 2) What’s the one thing you hope to accomplish in your lifetime that you haven’t yet?; 3) If you had nothing to do at all today, what would you do?; 4) What in life is causing you anxiety and stress?; 5) What are you most proud of? Use your journal as an alternative to a detox for your mind as well as your body!
5 Day Five: Get Your Beauty Sleep
It’s called beauty sleep for a reason, right? You need your rest, eight solid hours of it, to look and feel your best. Start and stick to a sleep schedule, and be sure to wind down before you climb into bed.
6 Day Six: out with the Old, in with the New
Dr. Murad wants us to remember that to look and feel young, we also have to act young, and that includes meeting new people, and trying new things. Resolve to try something new today!
7 Day Seven: Treat Yourself
Be sure to take time to pamper yourself, and reward yourself in a way that has nothing to do with «comfort food.» Mediate, relax, spend some quality «me time» and maybe even treat yourself to a massage.
