7 Reasons Not to Have a Fear of Growing Older ...

One really good reason to lose your fear of growing older is that it has a lot of advantages. You become happier in yourself and more confident, and you worry far less about what people think of you. You know yourself and what you want in life, and you're less inclined to compromise on what you want or make mistakes. I honestly wouldn't want to be 20 again.

The more you live, the more you realise that there is for you to learn. And that's not a bad thing. It's never too late to learn, and there's plenty you can learn by yourself. If you decide to undertake formal study, there are advantages to being older. You may be more committed and enjoy learning for its own sake, rather than studying because it's expected of you.

When you're younger you are often less sure of yourself and feel the need to conform to what others want or expect. But as you get older you just don't care what other people think. It doesn't matter at all, and you're far happier in yourself. I am far, far more confident than I was when I was younger.

Freaked out about life passing you by? Don't be. It'll only pass you by if you let it. There is plenty to look forward to. The best is almost certainly not behind you. Youth really isn't everything. Make the most of life and create opportunities for yourself - there is so much still to enjoy.

When you get really old, then the fun starts. Don't believe me? Just think about how old people get away with so much simply because they're old. Your turn will come to do and say outrageous things, and people will make allowances for you because of your age. It'll be your chance to get away with murder and enjoy it.

You can't get younger, so don't waste your life wishing you could recapture your youth. Besides, youth really isn't everything. It's nice having youthful skin and energy, but if you look after yourself then you can stay looking and feeling good for a long time. And there's so much more to life than the youthful stage.

Getting older is really difficult to avoid (I don't recommend the alternative, it's rather drastic). So fretting about it is a waste of time and energy that you could be putting into enjoying the present instead. Sure, nobody wants to get old and decrepit but there's a lot of time to enjoy before you get to that stage. Make the most of it.

It's so obvious when people try too hard to avoid visible signs of aging but the important thing is to keep a youthful attitude. Do that, and you will love life, however old you are. How far would you go to avoid the signs of aging?
