7 Reasons Why a Glass of Wine is Good for You ...

Alcohol gets a lot of bad press and, fair enough, if abused, it can be terribly dangerous. A glass of wine every now and then isn’t a bad thing, though ladies. In fact, more and more experts are suggesting it might just be beneficial. I’ve looked into this, girls, and put together a list 7 reasons why a glass of wine is good for you. Read on: next time you crack open a beautiful merlot, it’ll taste all the better!

1 Cholestoral Issues

To start with, ladies, let’s just make it clear that wine can only ever be good for you in moderation and as part of a balanced diet. Taken like this, though, studies have shown it can raise levels of good HDL-cholesterol and thin down the blood. This means, basically, that it’s good for the heart.

2 Free Radical Fighter

Free radicals are nasty little oxygen derivatives that attack everything in the body from your heart to your skin and, guess what girls! Wine is rich in phytochemical which, like anti-oxidants, kill them. In this sense, wine is actually beneficial for pretty much your whole system – so have a glass, ladies, you might just come out healthier afterwards.

3 It May Be Helping You Stay Trim

I’m not sure I believe this one myself, ladies, but apparently there’s a correlation between low body mass and wine drinking. Studies show that people who regularly indulge in a little glass, are thinner, in general, than those who don’t.

4 Bone Strength

Experts have suggested that wine drinking may be linked to better bone density, especially in women. This is because, apparently, alcohol can help to boost oestrogen levels, a hormone that, if deficient, causes the bone degeneration and brittleness.

5 It Stabilises Blood Sugar in the Long Term

A study conducted at Harvard over a period of ten years shows that wine drinkers are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. Apparently, this is particularly true of female wine fans in whom it is up to forty per cent less probable. This is a compelling reason to have the odd glass, ladies: diabetes is a serious and difficult illness and if a little delicious wine can help to prevent it then it seems like a good idea to indulge.

6 Stress Release

Like chocolate, wine is rich in flavanoids which help you to unwind and relax. A glass every once in a while will help to manage stress levels and, also, tastes really fantastic!

7 Memory Agent

Apparently, studies show that red wine can participate in the prevention of Alzheimer’s. This is linked with it’s healthy cardiac properties, and the capacity of the drink to thin down the blood a little. Experts tell us that wine can help to reduce clotting and generally prevents harmful vascular inflammation, both of which have been connected with memory loss in medical studies.
