3. Dancing

I would have never thought about dancing as a way to build muscle but it really can. Think of some of your favorite dance moves. Hip-hop dance does a lot to work your thighs when you drop down low and bring it back up. Many Latin dance moves have you keep your arms held up high working your shoulders and biceps. Of course belly dancing is going to do wonders for your stomach.

Dancing is an excellent way to build muscle, and it can be a lot of fun too! Not only does it work your arms, shoulders, and thighs, but it also works your core muscles. Hip-hop dance moves such as the "drop down low" are great for toning and strengthening your thighs. Latin dances like the Cha Cha or the Salsa require you to keep your arms held up high, which is great for working your shoulders and biceps. Belly dancing is a great way to engage your core and abdominal muscles.

Dancing is also a great way to get your heart rate up and burn calories. Studies have found that a 30-minute dance session can burn up to 200 calories. It's also a great way to improve your coordination and balance. With regular practice, you can develop your agility and coordination, which can help you with other physical activities.

4. Yoga

Have you ever looked at a girl who does yoga regularly? Chances are she is super strong and lean. Yoga has you hold poses that work all your different muscle groups. It can also be very relaxing and rewarding.

5. Pilates

Pilates is similar to yoga in that it really engages the different muscles of the body. It is a great way to build muscle and can be very fun. Find a class in your area and give it a try if you haven’t already.

6. Circuit Training

Circuit training mixes cardio and different muscle building exercises together. Often times the workouts are quick to get your heart rate up and keep it up. In some moves you work small muscles with larger muscle groups to really get a full workout in limited time.

7. Weight Training

I already said that lifting weights at the gym can be a little daunting, but if you can get a few friends together, or try going during a time when less people are at the gym it can be good. Weight training is an excellent way to build muscle and shouldn’t be ruled out.

8. At Home Videos

Sometimes we just need to work out at home. Many moms find this more convenient. You can pop in your favorite DVD while the kids are asleep or at school and get your sweat on.

9. Yogalates

This is one I must admit I haven’t tried yet, but I am very interested. If Pilates and yoga both do wonders to build muscles than a combination of the two has to be even better, right?

What are some fun ways to build muscle that you have tried? I am always looking for different ways to work out and switch up my routine. If you have any suggestions I would love for you to share them.

pole dancing! made me lean and strong : )

I have found skipping to be one of the best exercises for both legs and stomach.. I am thin otherwise but not toned... So skipping really toned my legs and stomach without making then awkwardly thin... If u dont have a rope, do it emulating the hand movements... Start with ten minutes, gradually moving up to 30 if u need to lose fats... 15 minutes works for me.. U can do it on each leg alternating to make it harder. Hope it helps! It's cheap and can be done any where at any time of the day! :D

Thank you! You know, I've been surfing the web for awesome ways to build muscle, other than weight training, and this'll really help me open the door to maybe some yoga videos, or a swim club. I had no clue about a lot of this :)

Swimming is incredible exercise and so easy on the joints if you have a lot of weight to lose.
