I have got some super easy ways to improve your health to share with you. Health should be a priority yet so many women fail to pay enough attention to their mental and physical well-being on a regular basis. Yes, you can have a healthy diet and exercise regularly but these are the foundation of your healthy mind and body. You can routinely do things that build on these foundations every day with these easy ways to improve your health.
1 Make Your Bed
Why is it one of the healthiest ways to start your day? Well for a start, there’s nothing like climbing into a nicely made bed at the end of the day (see point 15 😊) and it’s just a way of starting the day off with purpose and intent of being productive.
2 Always Eat Breakfast
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. The better you eat in the morning, the less likely you are going to be to crave snacks between meals in the day time. Even if you don’t necessarily feel hungry in the mornings, make the effort to get some much-needed fuel in to your body for the day ahead.
3 Stay Hydrated
Most of us don’t drink nearly enough water, and an easy way to remedy this is to make sure that you carry a water bottle with you at all times. Keep one in your bag and put it out on your work desk, take sips every now and then and before you know it you will have downed the entire bottle. It’s also great for your skin!
4 Eat a Packed Lunch
One of the most common ways for people to have an unhealthy day is being tempted by junk food options at lunch time. Get around this temptation by making yourself an equally delicious but much healthier lunch at home and bringing it. Join the home cooking Instagram revolution and show off your creations!
5 Eat from Smaller Plates
Sure, it’s a psychological trick, but it really does work! If you prepare a meal and arrange it on a smaller plate, then you will be much more satisfied than if you were to use a big plate and see lots of empty space. Of course, using a small plate is also the best way to exercise portion control.
6 Vegetables with Every Meal
It really pays off to ensure that you add a vegetable portion to each meal that you eat during the day. Vegetables are rich in fiber which will keep you full, and their low-calorie content makes them the perfect food to eat to stay fuller for longer without eating anything fatty!
7 Cut out a Single Sugary Drink
I’m not saying cut out sugary drinks altogether, because that can be a very hard lifestyle change to make, but if you can commit to cutting down one soda per day, it can start to make a small difference. It can be as easy as having water with your lunch instead of a juice.
You don’t need to be in a deep trance like state to benefit from meditation. Just having some special, quiet “me-time” will work to help you feel less stressed and more centered. Get away from work and people and gadgets for 10-20 to just relax and breathe deeply. Pop on some soothing music if it helps.
9 Park Further Away from Your Destination
One little positive change you can make to get more active is to remember to park further away when you reach a destination. This gives you the opportunity to have a little power walk without actually carving out a specific time in your day to reserve for working out.
10 Choose the Stairs!
No matter where you are, whenever there is a choice between taking an elevator or taking the stairs, always make the conscious decision to take the stairs. You still get where you are going to, and you have added some precious exercise to your day with minimal effort!
11 Pace While on Your Phone
Just think, if you spend 20 minutes talking to a friend on the phone, you can turn that in to 20 minutes of light exercise if you make the decision to pace up and down while talking rather than getting settled on a chair or on the couch. Again, another great way to incorporate some exercise without having to find extra time in your day.
12 Do Some Stretching
Even if you have worked out during the day or evening, stretching is still going to be beneficial. If you spend all day at your desk or work location, spend 10 minutes during one of your breaks doing some gentle stretching. Same goes if you have spent the evening coach potato-ing in front of the TV – do a few stretches before bed. A sedentary lifestyle is not good and it’s so easy to just keep moving.
Smiling is good for the facial muscles and makes everything better. Well they do say laughter is the best medicine, so plug into your favorite comedy show, watch funny cat videos, find your favorite memes or even read your favorite humorous author. Just find something that makes you smile or even better, laugh out loud.
14 Clear Your Desk or Tidy Your Room
This depends on your lifestyle but you can adapt accordingly. If you have a desk at work, always tidy it up before you leave for the day. If you have a coffee table at home, tidy it before you go to bed. It’s purely psychological but it’s akin to having a clean slate every day. Why wouldn’t you want to start the next day with a clear focus.
15 Regular Sleep Routine
Getting good sleep is crucial when it comes to enjoying good health. You should to aim for about 7 hours per night, always waking up at the same time each morning for a pleasant daily routine. Of course, an extra hour in bed at the weekend is always a good way to reward yourself for a week of hard work! And if you’ve done all the things on this list, you’ll sleep like a baby.
