How to Control Your Emotions during That Time of the Month ...
By Holly

We hate to admit it, but we can all get a little crazy during that time of the month. We'd yell at any boy who told us we were being touchy because of our period, but deep down we know it's the truth. Unfortunately, the cruelty of Mother Nature is something that we just can't escape. However, here are a few things that can help you control your emotions during that time of the month to make things easier:

1. Do Something Relaxing, like Yoga

Stress from work, school, or your relationship will make your emotions even more intense, which is why you need to do something relaxing in order to get your mind off of life's problems. You can meditate or perform yoga if you want to feel peaceful or you can kick box or go for a run if you want to get out your frustration.

2. Avoid the Urge to Eat Sweets

You shouldn't be afraid to treat yourself while on your period, but that doesn't mean you're allowed to gulp down caffeine and sweets. They can actually make your stomach and head feel worse, so you should stick to eating small frequent meals. It'll help you feel better physically, which will end up improving your mental state as well.

3. Blame Your Period, Not Yourself

If you end up yelling at your boyfriend for something silly or crying over a Youtube video of kittens, don't blame yourself. Know that it's your period's fault. Just apologize to your man for whatever you've said and try to make him understand that you didn't mean it. Your period has its own mind.

4. Reduce Your Physical Pain to Reduce Your Mental Pain

Reducing your physical pain will help reduce your emotional pain. That's why you should take some painkillers or use a water heater to make your cramps go away. The better you feel physically, the better mood you'll be in emotionally. So make sure you take care of yourself.

What you choose to wear while working out can have a significant impact on your comfort and performance. One essential item is the sports bra. Lack of proper support can lead to discomfort and muscle tissue damage. Choosing a good sports bra can help prevent these problems and ensure a great workout!

5. Don't Be Afraid to Cry

If you feel the need to cry, then go ahead and cry. There's nothing wrong with shedding a few tears, even if you have no idea why you're doing it. It's a way for your body to release stress, so you're actually better off crying than holding it in. Don't feel silly about it, because it happens to everyone during that time of the month.

6. Stay inside and Be anti-Social if You Want

You shouldn't lock yourself away when you're on your period. But if you're not in the mood to hang out with your friends, don't force yourself to be social. There's nothing wrong with resting in bed watching Parks and Rec on Netflix. If it makes you feel better, it's worth doing.

7. Have More Calcium

Calcium is one of the best ways to get rid of cramps. So if you can't stop crying because of the pain, try to add more calcium to your diet. It'll make your body feel better and will instantly improve your mood.

Unfortunately, we're all going to have to deal with periods for years to come. However, as long as you follow these tips, it should make your time easier. What other tips do you have for managing your emotions while on your period?
