Lose πŸ—‘ the Fear 😰 of Diet 🍽 and Exercise πŸ’ͺ ...

Everybody looks over at that lean, toned, beach body fit, fitness magazine cover and lets their mind wander off into their world for a bit, until something slams us back to reality and the difficulty of hearing us motivate, support and encourage ourselves to get our bodies into the gym cannot be heard over the sound of us chewing.

Sound familiar? Then you are not alone. More often than not the fear of embarking on a healthy eating plan and getting on our gym gear and going to the gym are the hardest parts. Three weeks down the line however, you will wonder what on earth all the fuss was about.

The only thing stopping us from achieving our goals is ourselves, hands down. Yet we pass the blame to everything and everyone in a ten kilometre radius, waving the blame wand for our inability to fit into our jeans or lose those 15 pounds that we need to. We blame genetics, our kids, pregnancy, our hectic jobs, the cost of joining a gym, not having enough money to buy fancy gym clothes … the list is endless.

But the solution is simple: Change your mind-set and the rest will come. Guaranteed.

Eat healthy meals, smaller portions, and take exercise. It’s not rocket science, yet we all have a built in fear of failure, and wallowing in it is much more comfortable that launching off the couch and heading out into the fresh air for a walk. Monitor your thoughts, because they become who you are. If you have told yourself you will fail – nobody on God’s earth can fix that.

No matter how slow you are, you are still lapping everyone else still sitting on the couch.

Get out there into the fresh air, take time out for your body, mind and soul and walk. Its free, it’s fun; it is the perfect activity for people with injuries, with friends, family, animals, in wind rain or shine. Choose your scenery: Beach, forest, mountain, sand dunes. Walking is the perfect way to get a start on any exercise program, especially if you have been sedentary for a long time. There is nothing to be scared about, you have no excuse.

Fact : Walkers are some of the fittest people on the planet

Do not reward yourself with food. You are not a dog.

Before you say it’s not something you do, think about it…’’Well I have been so good today I think I will have a nice cream bun.’’ Um, that is you, that is me, that is all of us. Food reward is one of the biggest causes of obesity in the world. Stemmed in childhood (but that is not an excuse to blame your parents either) if we were good we got a special treat, an ice cream a lolly pop, a chocolate. Work out where it started and put an end to it, once and for all. And stop rewarding your kids with food as well, break the cycle and build a life.
