7. Drink 7-up

Carbonated drinks tend to settle a gassy stomach rather quickly. I like to stick to the clear beverages, as opposed to the ones with caramel coloring in them. It seems that the darker sodas tend to be much sweeter and sometimes make my stomach feel worse.

6. Suck on a Peppermint Candy

Peppermint has been known to sooth upset stomachs for centuries. If you don’t have a peppermint candy of some kind, then fresh mint leaves will work as well. Cut up the fresh leaves and pour boiling water over them. Mix in a bit of honey to make it sweet and sip it slowly.

5. Drink a Small Amount of Cold Water with a Pinch of Baking Soda in It

This has a similar effect on a gassy stomach that 7-up does, but without all the fun bubbles. Be careful after chugging a small glass of this though because you will burp and if you burp with your mouth closed tight, a burning sensation will shoot up your nose. Not pleasant!

4. Take a Laxative

Constipation plays a large part in an achy stomach. Taking a laxative can remedy this, but these unfortunately don’t work immediately. If you are looking for a natural laxative, Cascara Sagrada, or Sacred Bark as it is otherwise known, is an excellent herbal laxative.

3. Mix a Teaspoon of Honey, a Teaspoon of Water, and 2 Teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and Drink

Most people have some apple cider vinegar in their cabinet and all you need is a couple of teaspoons for this remedy. You can drink this three times a day if necessary. Another option is to mix 3 tablespoons of Aloe Vera juice with the teaspoon of honey and drink that instead. Aloe is great for fixing intestinal issues.

2. Eat a Half Cup of Plain Yogurt

I like the Greek yogurt the best, but if you can’t find it at the grocery store, then go for just some plain yogurt. The Greek yogurt is thicker and has a more distinct flavor. It is yummy with some honey drizzled over it too. If your stomach ache is because of an imbalance in the natural bacteria living in your intestines, then a good healthy dose of plain yogurt will fix you right up.

1. Chew on Candied Ginger or Drink Ginger Tea

Ginger is perfect for calming an upset stomach, whether it’s nausea that set in during a car ride or morning sickness. Sucking on a piece of candied ginger gives you a chance to slowly release the ginger into your system. These are also easier to carry in your pocket or purse. Ginger tea is best when made from fresh ginger root.
