Life might be stressful, but this doesn't mean you have to deal with stress on a daily basis. Stress can make you irritable and you might lose sleep worrying about your problems. 1

The Naysayers

Everyone has an opinion, and some people will have an opinion about you. Whether it's good or bad, you need to stop worrying about other's opinions of you. The truth is, you can't please everyone. And no matter what you do, some people will talk or make comments. Worrying too much about other's opinions causes a bunch of needless stress – let it go.

2

Misconceptions about Success

Everyone has their own ideas about the definition of success. And if you fall for the hype and believe success is based on the amount in your bank account, you'll constantly stress about climbing to the top. Other things in life make you successful. Do you enjoy your work? Are you in a satisfying, healthy relationship? Are you healthy and have the support of your family? If so, you have more than a lot of people.

3

Remember Life without Social Media

Social media is a wonderful way to stay connected with friends and family, but according to recent research, social media can also make us feel bad about ourselves. If you're dealing with a lot of problems, yet your friends "seem" to be enjoying life, this can trigger depression and feelings of jealousy. So if browsing your Facebook newsfeed makes you stressed and irritable, pull the plug for a few days and enjoy life without constant status updates.

4

Stop with the "what if's"

What if I had taken that job? What if I had said yes to the invitation? Obsessing about the past or missed opportunities can drive you crazy. Let go of the past and live in the present.

5

Toxic Friendships

Some relationships are toxic, and it's important to identify these. Toxic friendships can take your peace of mind and trigger a bunch of emotions from jealousy to anxiety, and toxic friends can increase your blood pressure. It doesn't matter if it's a friend, a relative, a coworker or a neighbor, you need to recognize people who aren't good for you, and either remove these people from your life or limit contact with them.

Rush Hour Traffic

Whether you're on your way to class or work, sitting in rush hour traffic can make your blood boil and this gets your day off to a bad start. There's nothing you can do about traffic, but if you're always running late because of traffic eliminate this stress by getting ready earlier in the mornings and leaving the house sooner. Even if you're caught in a traffic jam, you're less likely to stress over arriving late.

7

Endless Lines

No matter where you go, there are lines – the bank, retail stores and grocery stores. And if you're always in a hurry, standing in lines can be a huge stressor. Break free from line and sign up for online banking and bill pay. If you're mailing a package, you can schedule pickups from your home, and some grocery stores will let you order items online for faster pickup.

If you can eliminate a few stressors from your life, you'll worry less and enjoy calmness of mind. What are other stressors you can eliminate for a worry-free week?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Great post! Life is meant to be enjoyed! No point in stressing about the small stuff! Stop thinking too much about the past and worrying about the future! Live in the present!

Naw Andi I'm worried about the opposite, I've done a really good job at using public transport/walking to get to and from places. It's funny how as I started reading this I've got "let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore" playing in my head - love that song too much!

I got rid of my car because I live in a place where I'm close to everything I need. Best thing I ever did to reduce stress, though I understand that not a lot of people can live like this :)

Sometimes I linger about the past, but if I had stayed in that job, I wouldn't have my husband beside me today! :-)
