1

Have a Spa Day

One of the best things you can do to relieve stress is to have a spa day. Take a day to pamper yourself. After all, you deserve it! Go all out and order the whole special pampering package: massage; nails; hair; etc. Just relax, and focus on YOU.

2

Have a Movie Night

Whether you prefer to do it alone or with some friends, you can never go wrong with a movie night. Choose a couple of your favorite films, or rent a couple that none of you have seen before. Pop some corn, break out the Ben and Jerry's pints, and let the relaxing begin.

3

Do Some Yoga

For some of you, this is an automatic NO THANK YOU. But don’t knock it till you try it! Sure you might not be the most flexible person in the world, but you don’t have to be. There are plenty of easy, relaxing exercises that have been known to help alleviate stress. Put on some comfy clothes, find a comfy spot, and put on an instructional yoga video. There are tons of free ones on the internet, so do some research and find one that you feel fits your level of experience the best.

4

Go for a Run

What? Exercise? Yeah right… But really, any kind of exercise is a great way to relieve tension. Use all that stress to your advantage, and power through a workout that will leave you a little sore, but relaxed nonetheless. Plus, you’ll feel good with all those endorphins! Go ahead and feel free to give yourself a pat on the back for getting a workout in while you're at it.

5

Talk to Someone

Sometimes its good to just vent and let everything out. Ask a friend or a family member to go get coffee or hangout. Say you just need someone to listen. Keeping stressful feelings and thoughts to yourself does more harm than good!

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

6

Take Mini Breaks While You Work

Free yourself from that horrid 8 page report by taking little breaks here and there. Have writer’s block? Step away from the paper and come back to it later. Personally, I have found that painting my nails is a great thing to do when I need a mental break. Listen to some music, make a snack or some tea, and you can worry about finishing your project later.

7

Dance It out

I just thought I’d throw this one in for fun. Sure, it might not be the most normal or socially acceptable thing to do if you’re in the library or in the office. But if you’re at home or somewhere you feel comfortable, why not dance it out?! Throw on some music and dance the stress away.

So when you’re feeling overwhelmed and run-down, just remember these tips and give some of them a try. What do you think of these ones? Any favorites? What are some of your personal favorite ways to relieve stress?
