1. Unplug
How much time do you spend plugged into the computer, tv, or your phone? If you are being honest you probably tuned into at least one of the devices all day until bedtime. If this is you, it’s no surprise you cannot sleep because of stress. Try unplugging from the computer, phone and television at least an hour before bedtime.
2. Complete List
What can you do during that hour of no electronics before bedtime? How about going through a list of everything you have accomplished for that day. Looking at what you have done is far less stressful than thinking about all the things you still need to tackle.

3. Worry Time
If you cannot sleep because of stress you are probably lying in bed worrying about everything under the sun. Help yourself out by planning a time to worry and sort through problems earlier in the day. Maybe you can do this during your drive home from work or during an afternoon run.

If you find yourself unable to sleep because of stress try this relaxation tip. Start at your toes and imagine them relaxing and relieving any tension. Move up to your calves and do the same thing. Keep moving up your body relaxing each muscle one at a time until you have worked all the way up.

Sometimes a quick 30 minute nap during the day makes all the difference. Naps help relives stress. You wake up feeling renewed. If you can, try taking a quick nap after lunch.

If you find yourself stressing out and worried when you should be sleeping try thinking about all the good things in your life. If you are hashing out the negatives it’s no surprise you cannot sleep because of stress. Instead think of the good. You should start to relax and be able to fall asleep soon after.
