This way, you’ll know exactly what to avoid in order to prevent a midday food coma and calorie overload!
Taco salads are often fast food nightmares when it comes to sodium, calories and fat. Taco Bell’s version of this classic dish is definitely one of the worst fast food choices you can make. It’s disguised as a salad but it’s pretty much an extra-large, glorified taco. This “meal” has 900 calories, 11 grams of saturated fat, 1700 milligrams of sodium and 7 grams of sugar. This one dish has enough calories for almost half of your recommended daily caloric intake and way too much saturated fat!
Not all subs are created equal and in this case, Subway’s philly cheesesteak is a one of the deadliest fast food meals on the market! The normally light and healthy fast food resto has a dark side with some salty and fatty subs, so steer clear of their meatball and cheesesteak subs and stick to lean meats or veggie subs. For 6” of this sub you can expect to get 520 calories, 9 grams of saturated fat, over 1500 milligrams of sodium and 7 grams of sugar.
So you feel like treating yourself to a pizza but you don’t want to make a bad fast food choice. Think you're being good, you get a personal sized pizza to control your portions and just get cheese to limit your toppings. You definitely get an A for effort but Pizza Hut’s personal pizzas with cheese are one of the worst fast food choices ever, with almost 600 calories, 55 grams of cholesterol and over 1200 grams of sodium.
This seemingly healthy burrito with rice, black beans, cheese and steak is actually a really bad fast food choice. Some restaurants advertise themselves as using pure and organic ingredients but it still doesn’t make up for over 800 calories, 10.5 grams of saturated fat and 1500+ grams of sodium. Good gosh, that burrito is far from pure! If you want to stay on the safe side, go for a salad with no extras, just dressing and a protein, and you’re better off than gorging on a burrito!
We all know Chinese fast food isn’t the healthiest but sometimes we need to get our fix regardless of it being a bad fast food choice, right? Well, you might think again after you peep the stats of the three entrees-1070 calories, 2100 grams of sodium and over 7 grams of saturated fat. The total fat content was much higher but it was relatively low in saturated fat. Broccoli beef, chicken dishes and the veggies dishes are better options.
Here’s another classic example of one of the worst fast food choices disguised as a healthy salad. At first glance, a crispy chicken salad with honey Dijon dressing looks nice and lean but it’s far from it! First off, there is over 22 grams of fat in this salad and 1,270 grams of sodium. Calorie-wise, it has 470 cals so it’s not too bad but the fat and sodium content make it one of the worst fast food choices ever!
This sammie looks pretty harmless at first. You’ve got some veggies, grilled chicken and fancy bread, but it’s actually another one of the deadliest fast food choices. This sandwich has 9 grams of saturated fat, 690 calories and 1850 milligrams of sodium. Yikes, most fast food restaurants try to keep saturated fat content low but this one has one of the highest saturated fat contents around!
It’s kind of scary to see a harmless little veggie sub on the list of the worst fast food choices but it’s true! This veggie sub contains a variety of cheeses and guacamole so it’s got over 1,000 calories and a whopping 19 grams of saturated fat! If you like your veggie subs, ask for no cheese or guac and it should bring the calorie and fat count way down!
I had to add a kid’s meal to this list of the worst fast food choices because many busy ladies have kids and Dairy Queen’s Cheeseburger meal was by far one of the worst! This meal comes with a chocolate Dilly bar, French fries and a drink. Assuming your child likes Mountain Dew, the total calorie count for this meal is 973 with 1,450 milligrams of sodium! I know many fast food places have made over their kid’s meal menus but definitely stay far away from this one!
