The food and drink that you put in your body is the fuel for your body. The fuel that you consume significantly effects how your body functions. The following foods are recommended by medical professionals as promoting and maintaining optimal health, helping you ward off the conditions, germs and bacteria that can make you sick. Here are 10 super foods that help fight illness.
1. Whole Grains
Whole grains are high in fiber. They help reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease. And heart disease is deadly, but preventable.
2. Fat Free Dairy Products
Fat-free dairy is the best way to provide your body with the levels of calcium and vitamin D recommended for good health. Calcium keeps the bones strong and prevents bone degenerating diseases, such as osteoporosis.
Omega-3 Fatty acids are extremely important to our health. Omega-3s promote good cholesterol, diminish triglycerides and encourage lower blood pressure. Our body does not produce Omega-3s so it must be consumed. Fish (especially salmon) is a rich source of the Omega-3s; there are many supplements available for those who don’t like to eat fish.
