Pinky

There's a lot of speculation about which companies have the best essential oils with the most benefits. To me, doTERRA an outstanding essential oil company! Their oils are certified pure therapeutic grade or CPTG, meaning that doTERRA protects the chemical compound of the plant just as it was produced from earth. No harsh chemicals, no substitutions, no fillers; they're simply pure, natural, safe and effective oils! I'm here to share with you my favorite 10 best essential oils by doTERRA!

What's your favorite way to relax after a long day?

1. Lavender

Lavender Of course, first on my list of top 10 best essential oils has to be lavender! Lavender has many known benefits and it's my go-to for my children as well! This oil is widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities, soothing occasional skin irritations and easing muscle tension. I love to use lavender on my kids to help them sleep peacefully at night: a quick few rolls of lavender on the soles of their feet, and blissful, peaceful sweet slumber!

2. Peppermint

Peppermint Ah! Peppermint is one of my absolute favorite oils! It's a hot oil, so you have to be very careful you don’t get it in your eyes! Ouch! The reason peppermint is one of my favorites is for its properties in promoting healthy respiratory function and aiding in clearer breathing. I also love to use peppermint on my temples and the back of my neck to relieve irritating headaches! The cooling effect of peppermint, and the sweet, fresh aroma quickly knocks the headache out of you!

3. On-Guard

On-Guard One of doTERRA’s most popular oil blends, known as “On-Guard” is also known as the ‘protective blend.’ This particular blend is a known for its unique, proprietary formula to support healthy immune system function. Its combination of wild orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary offer a great boost to the immune system and can also be used to disinfect counter tops or clear the atmosphere by diffusing! I have about 3-4 bottles of On-Guard at home and use this on my children daily!

4. Melaleuca

Melaleuca Melaleuca, also known as the ‘tea tree oil,’ is known for its many beneficial properties in cleansing the skin. This oil has limitless therapeutic applications. I love to use melaleuca on my kids for minor cuts and scrapes. It's a perfect disinfectant and antibiotic as well!

5. Frankincense

Frankincense If you’re ‘crunchy’ like I am, or even ‘semi-crunchy,’ you might hear the saying, “When in doubt, use frankincense!” That’s because this precious oil has been around for centuries, dating far back to the Egyptian era! Like melaleuca, Frankincense has a variety of applications from relaxation, boosting the immune system, disinfecting the home, and even mood enhancement.

6. Breathe

Breathe Another popular oil blend by doTERRA that I am a huge fan of is Breathe. And, you guessed it: it's the respiratory blend. It consists of laurel leaf, peppermint, eucalyptus, melaleuca, lemon, and ravesara, which together cleanse and soothe the airways. This specific oil is my kids' favorite because it helps them with coughs and colds! I highly recommend this oil for those days of runny, stuffy, sneezy colds! We love Breathe in our household!

7. Terrashield

Terrashield Terrashield, also known as the insect repellent blend, does exactly what the blend states: it repels insects. One application of this blend will protect you from biting insects for up to 6 hours! I carry around Terrashield in my diaper bag, especially when I know we'll be outside! Unlike regular bug spray, Terrashield won’t leave you smelling like chemicals, nor will it make you feel sticky or icky!

8. Deep Blue

Deep Blue Do you have sore, aching muscles or joints? Then Deep Blue is the oil for you! This blend is known to relieve discomfort due to achy joints and sore muscles. This specific oil blend contains wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, blue tansy, German chamomile, helichrysum, and osmanthus. Instantly you can feel the cooling sensation of the oils penetrating through the skin and easing muscle or joint pain. It's truly wonderful, and it's my husband’s favorite!

9. Grapefruit

Grapefruit Now, I think it's funny how much I love grapefruit essential oil, but I don’t like the fruit. I love grapefruit essential oil because of its fresh, crisp scent and of course its beneficial cleansing and invigorating properties. Grapefruit is known to lift your mood, help reduce mental and physical fatigue, cleanse and purify and of course aid for oily skin issues. Who would’ve thought grapefruit oil had so many benefits?

10. Citrus Bliss

Citrus Bliss Last and certainly not least, to complete my top 10 best essential oils list is Citrus Bliss! This powerful combination of wild orange, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, tangerine and clementine (with a hint of vanilla) creates a fresh, crisp aroma and helps reduce stress and anxiety and cleanses and purifies the air! This specific oil is also known as doTERRA’s invigorating blend, and to me it smells like orange creamscicle ... it definitely makes me smile!

There are many reputable essential oil brands out there, like Young Living, Ameo, and many more, though I've personally found what worked for my family is doTERRA. I love my oils, and I love educating others on the benefits of oils. What’s your favorite oil or oils? Do you have a favorite oil blend recipe? What brand of oils do you use and why? I love to hear your feedback and I’m happy to see the natural remedies being used! Sound off and let me know!

I'm also curious to know what crunchy means

I love frankincense oil as it reminds me of living in Ethiopia.we used to buy blocks of it ( from the frankincense tree and burn it on the Fire at night. Heavenly !

@Beryl Stokes, thank you for sharing that memory! What beautiful imagery.

Most of these scents you can go to an organic store, or you can find them on Amazon. They have ALL these oils she listed.

Cici, I wouldn't purchase any oils at Amazon specifically you don't know where the oils came from or if they were opened and resealed. Highest quality oils are best bought from the source =]

What does it mean to "be crunchy"? D:

Use caution with peppermint oil during pregnancy & nursing. It has the possibility of stimulating contractions & also dries up your milk

Being crunchy means natural living, I'm a semi-crunchy mom as my kids still go to public school, I believe in vaccinations and traditional medicine. =]

Where can I find these oils?

Snow lion. Just wish you could have experienced it ! You would love approaching Addis by road after 400 miles of dirt roads , with the smell of the masses of eucalyptus trees
