We all know we should eat vegetables, like carrots, but are you really aware of the exact health benefits of carrots? I always tell people to learn why they’re eating a food, not just eat it because they’re told to or because they think they should. Yes, carrots are healthy for you, and so are other veggies. And while it’s important to eat these vegetables, in my opinion, it’s more important to know why you should. Consider some of these health benefits of carrots and you might just be more apt to reach for them and appreciate them.

1. Anti-inflammatory

One of the largest health benefits of carrots is they are highly alkalizing to the body. Carrots fight inflammation and can help a large number of inflammation-related issues like body pain, headaches, or stomachaches. They are best consumed raw for this purpose, but lightly steamed is fine as well.

2. Aid in Digestion

Carrots are a good source of soluble fiber, so they help with digestion and are easy on the stomach. They help to gently bulk up the stool, and most people with IBS and other related issues seem to tolerate them well since they’re soft in texture. Carrots also have B vitamins and magnesium, which can assist with healthy digestion.

3. Anti-cancer

Carrots have also been said to be one of the best types of vegetables to fight cancer. They are rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. These nutrients are vital for the immune system, and stimulate white blood cell production so your body can fight off cancerous cells and other harmful invaders.

4. Anti-aging

Due to the nutrient composition in carrots, they are also great for anti-aging purposes. Carrots can help you look more youthful, and make your skin look more vibrant. They are also anti-aging to the brain, as all vegetables are. Eating nutritious and vitamin-rich vegetables is one of the best things you can do to fight age-related issues both internally and externally.

What you choose to wear while working out can have a significant impact on your comfort and performance. One essential item is the sports bra. Lack of proper support can lead to discomfort and muscle tissue damage. Choosing a good sports bra can help prevent these problems and ensure a great workout!

5. Anti-acne

Carrots are also a great vegetable to eat to fight acne. I find when I eat carrots and other orange vegetables, my skin glows. The Vitamin A content can really help fight off acne and clear the skin of inflammation. In fact, the acne medication Accutane is nothing more than a chemical version of Vitamin A. I say, just keep it inexpensive and easy by eating your carrots. Don’t you?

6. High Fiber

We all know we should be eating more fiber, but many people reach for wheat bran or oat bran, fiber, supplements, etc. Just eat more vegetables like carrots and you’ll get plenty of fiber the easy and healthier way. Carrots have about 6 grams of fiber per cup, which is excellent considering this amount is only about 50 calories. Next time you’re hungry, have a cup of baby or chopped carrots. You’ll be full, satisfied, and you won’t be consuming hard to digest fiber from other harsh supplements or bran foods.

7. Anti-bacterial

Did you know carrots help fight bad bacteria in the body? They have been found to be an anti-viral vegetable, as well as an anti-parasitic vegetable. Consuming carrots and other vegetables can help your body naturally fight disease. Have carrots more often, along with other vegetables. I’m willing to bet you’ll visit the doctor much less this year just by this one change!

Many people say carrots are high in sugar and you should avoid them. This is just silly! Carrots are a vegetable, and fairly low on the glycemic index. Don’t avoid them, as they are wonderful for you body, your weight, and your health as you can see. What’s your favorite way to eat carrots?
