There are so many amazing ways to get a good workout. If you typically run for your cardio, I encourage you to give an aerobic dance class a try. You are bound to have an amazing time cutting loose while getting a great workout. Dancers, if are you looking for ways to change your workout routine, why not try running or swimming?

2. Interval Training

Interval training is another great way to shake up your regular walk or run. You can burn more calories in a shorter amount of time by adding a few sprints during your route. Try picking up the pace for one minute and then slowing down for 30 seconds. Next time around, speed up for 2 minutes and slow down for 15 seconds. Work up to a 5 minute sprint.

3. Free Weights

If you haven’t added weight training to your workout routine, you are doing your body a huge injustice. We all know that cardio is great for the heart and body, but nothing tones up your muscles like a little free weight session. Start easy and slow and seek help from experts at your gym to make sure you are using the weights and machines properly.

4. Yoga

Sometimes when my muscles are incredibly sore from a week of working out, I know my body can’t take another day at the gym. Instead I pull out my mat and spend a quiet morning going through a few favorite yoga poses. Yoga helps increase flexibility, stamina, and balance.

5. Take It outside

Most of my workouts happen indoors. It can get a little stuffy, to say the least. I like to switch it up by heading outdoors. I love to do this in the spring or fall when the weather is perfect and the scenery is gorgeous. The crisp air and warm sun are absolutely refreshing and rejuvenating, especially after being held indoors all winter.

I know that this isn’t really making a change to your workout routine per se, but I am sure you will agree that new shoes, a hot new outfit, a better sports bra, or even a cool water bottle all have a way of boosting your spirits. New gear makes working out feel new and better.
