Passionflower

One of the most helpful natural remedies for anxiety is passionflower, which was first used as a folk remedy to treat anxiety and insomnia. A few studies that examined the effectiveness of passionflower for anxiety have discovered that passionflower can be comparable to benzodiazepine drugs. It increases job performance but it still has a few side effects, so you should to take it with caution.

2

Valerian

This is another natural remedy that can help you win the fight with anxiety. Valerian is actually best known as a herbal remedy for insomnia and it’s usually taken an hour before bedtime. It takes about two or three weeks to work and you shouldn’t use it for more than three weeks at a time, since it does have side effects.

3

Mind/Body Techniques

There are a lot of mind/body techniques you can use to decrease your anxiety levels and to be able to enjoy more all the wonderful things around you. You could try practicing meditation, self-hypnosis, physical exercise, yoga, tai chi or any other stress reduction technique.

4

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can help you decrease your anxiety by helping you feel more relaxed. You can add plain essential oils to your baths or to your massage oils. The essential oils that are used for anxiety are jasmine, bergamot, geranium, cypress, lavender, melissa, neroli, rose and sandalwood. Yet lavender is the most well-known and it’s used in a lot of bath products just because it has these relaxing properties.

5

Chamomile

If you’re feeling a bit anxious, a cup of chamomile tea might help you relax. Studies have shown that some compounds in chamomile bind to the same brain receptors as drugs like Valium. You can also take it as a supplement and in one study that took place at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, in Philadelphia, “patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) who took chamomile supplements for eight weeks had a significant decrease in anxiety symptoms compared to patients taking placebo.”

Famous Quotes

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

6

Green Tea

Yes, green tea can help you calm down when you are feeling stressed or anxious. The reason why that happens is because green tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which apparently reduces anxiety and helps you focus much better.

7

Eat Breakfast

Try not to skip breakfast even if you don’t feel like eating in the morning. Apparently, many people with anxiety disorders skip breakfast, but Dr. Ramsey recommends that “people eat things like eggs, which are a satiating and filling protein, and are nature's top source of choline. Low levels of choline are associated with increased anxiety."

There are a lot of very effective natural remedies for anxiety. I just mentioned a few in this little article but I’m sure there are many more I could add to this list. Do you know any other helpful natural remedies for anxiety? Please tell us about them in the comments section!
