1

Avoid Congesting Foods

Dairy, wheat, sugar, and eggs are extremely mucus forming to the body, so removing them from your diet is one of the best holistic ways to combat seasonal allergies. This should quickly free you from post-nasal drip, fatigue, joint pain, and headaches.

2

Eat Healthy Fats

Essential fatty acids from foods such as flax and chia seeds are also helpful to combat seasonal allergies. They help decrease inflammation and improve blood flow. Other good sources include avocados, flax oil, hemp seeds, and walnuts.

3

Take Oregano Oil

Oregano oil fights inflammation, allergies, and viruses in the body. It’s also an ancient wound-healer and digestive aid, as a side note. Adding some essential oregano oil to water or tea is a great way to consume it, or you can add it to your foods if you wish. Marinara, anyone?

4

Have Some Nettle Tea

Nettles are potent antihistamine plants that actually prevent your body from producing histamines, much like allergy drugs, but without all the negative consequences. You can take nettles in a tea, capsule, or tincture form.

5

Eat Vitamin C Rich Foods

Vitamin C rich foods act as an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune booster. Opt for C rich foods instead of supplements, which are usually just ascorbic acid (GMO corn). Vitamin C rich foods include peppers, oranges, camu camu berries (a superfood), strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, papaya, pineapple, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots.

Butterbur and Horsetail

Butterbur and horsetail are two natural herbal supplements that have been used for many years to fight allergies. They're plant-based and contain no chemicals. Many people also testify they work well to combat viruses and bacteria in the body. You can find these at any health food store where natural supplements are sold or buy them online.

7

Eat Plenty of Leafies

Leafy greens act as anti-inflammatory agents to the body and they help aid in cleansing. Cleaning out excess mucus in the body is important to fight allergies and for overall wellness. You can cook them, juice them, blend them, or eat them raw- just be sure you eat them!

8

Don’t Forget the Veggies

All veggies enhance your immune system, therefore should be included anytime you’re looking to feel your best. The stronger your immune system is, the less likely you’ll suffer allergies and other health issues. Veggies also aid in cleansing the body, but again, be sure to avoid preparing them with dairy, eggs, wheat, and/or sugar.

9

Supplement Smart

It’s also important that you take a multivitamin, Vitamin D, and probiotic supplement. All these will ensure that your body is working at tip-top function to help you feel your best.

Other holistic ways to combat seasonal allergies include neti-pots, avoiding peak pollen hours of the day, drinking warm drinks to aid in nasal drainage, and homeopathic supplements. Do you have a holistic tip for combating seasonal allergies?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

My allergies and astma completely disappeared when I started intermittant fasting. I feel much better now.

I don't eat breakfast and lunch two days a week. So I keep a 24 hr fast. After two weeks my allergies disappeared. I didn't have any symptoms of hay fever this year and I haven't used my astma medication in months.

Hantjeb: please share what exactly did you do? I've sinus and it's irritating me like anything
