1

Eating Less Sugar

Eating too much sugar will cause a yeast infection. So, eating less sugar is one of the things that help prevent yeast infections. You can try things like using Splenda or enjoying fruit instead, which is a healthier option. Carbohydrates go along with sugars in causing yeasts infections. You do need carbohydrates but you don’t need more than your daily recommended allowance.

2

Wear Panties Less

This can kind of seem like a shocking prospect to some people, at least at first. But going without panties actually can help you to prevent yeast infections. You do not want to do this when you are wearing tight fitting garments. But when you are wearing lounge pants or pajamas, those are good times to go without panties. This can drastically reduce the amount of yeast infections that you have.

3

Check Your Birth Control Pill

Birth control pills can actually cause you to get yeast infections in certain situations. This is not always the case but if you take birth control pills and you get them frequently, you should probably bring this to the attention of your gynecologist. It could be as simple a fix as trying a different birth control pill. Other medications can cause yeast infections, too, such as antibiotics. Being aware that your medication can cause a yeast infection can help you to know you need to take other protective measures.

4

Eat Yogurt

Yogurt is well-known for helping to prevent yeast infections. This is because it has live and active cultures that help your body be able to fight them off. Be sure to look for the live and active sign on the yogurt container when you shop for yogurt. Also, you may want to watch the sugar content in your yogurt. Some yogurts have a lot of sugar, especially those that have added toppings like candy or granola.

5

Wear the Right Kind of Underwear

Certain kinds of underwear are much more likely to contribute to yeast infections than others. As sexy as they are, thongs are something that are very likely to give you a yeast infection if you are prone to them. You might save them and wear them on special occasions but it is generally better to switch to a different style of underwear. You certainly don’t have to wear granny panties. There are many other cute and sexy options, such as hip huggers and boy shorts.

Be Careful of the Fit of Clothing

It is important to watch the fit of your clothing. Generally, the tighter the fit in your crotch, the worse it is going to be for you. You do not have to give up your skinny jeans but just make sure they are not overly tight in that area. If you are really struggling with yeast issues, you may want to even try wearing more skirts and dresses. Generally, the more air flow that can move through that area, the better.

7

Give up Pantyhose

Pantyhose are bad, bad, bad for causing yeast infections. This goes back to what we were discussing in the above point. Air flow is good. Constricted clothing is not good for you. Pantyhose are tight and sort of hold air in with their snug fit. Avoid them whenever possible.

These are some of the things you can do to help prevent yeast infections. What have you done differently that has helped you with yeast infections? Any other advice on this subject?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Taking Florajen 3. It's a great probiotic. Eating me greens and exercise. :)

The same fungus that causes yeast infections is also in the mouth so definitely less oral

Also, change your underwear after swimming and exercising... That's a hotbed too

Sugar doesn't cause a yeast infection. The sugars make it a nest for the yeast already in your body, and makes it 10 times worse. Drink water, eat less sugar, and ditch foods and drinks with excess hop and yeast.

Yeah I wouldn't go out all day without underwear. I rather wear one appropriate and not to loose because sweating in your pants and the rubbing and all that jazz will increase your chances

My Dr. once told me spit causes yeast infection.. I was like what???.. Guess he was right.. so yeah.. #lessoral? 😬

Acidophilus helps too

Don't drink beer if you are prone to yeast infections. Also if your partner has a beer, don't let them give you oral because you can get yeast infections that way too

I some time get yeast infections at timex during the time of my period and its painful. I cannot help but think that is a problem. I have to use a prescribed vaginal cream everytime its bothersome cause over the counter meds don't work well.
