Frequently asked questions

2 Start a Book Series

Ever wanted to get lost in a fascinating book series but never had the time to commit? Well, now's your chance! Whatever type of book genre interests you, find a series with a lot of action and suspense and time will just fly by. Ask around for recommendations as well- your friends will be happy to share what they love to read!

3 Find a New Show to Watch

After the birth of my son, I had a catheter in for 10 days that kept me pretty immobile. Finding a new TV series to watch was a life-saver! There are websites like Netflix and Hulu that provide hundreds of your favorite shows for very little money per month. Start a new series and get sucked in! There are endless options for television entertainment.

4 Craft!

It may not seem like it, but you've been given the gift of time. Crafting and making things has never been more within reach than now. Maybe you've been interested in jewelry making but haven't set any goals yet. Well, have a good friend or family member help you collect the supplies you need and get to work! You'll be productive while your body heals up.

5 Write Something

Do you love to write? If so, you now have the opportunity to write something amazing. Write a lovely letter to a far away friend, start a short story or invest some thought into a creative poem. Whatever outlet for writing sounds interesting to you, go for it!

6 Start a Reflection Journal

Perhaps you're finding it hard to be cheerful when you're stuck in bed all day. That's totally normal given the circumstances- we all want the freedom to move! It may help to write down your thoughts and emotions as each day approaches. Writing has a way of releasing emotions and built-up tension, so if you so desire, start a reflection journal and make it a point to write your thoughts out daily.

7 Focus on the End Game

Again, it can be hard to stay happy and positive when you have limited mobility. Focus instead on the light at the end of the tunnel. This isn't forever and by the end of it, you'll have a much greater appreciation for your health and ability to move your body the way it was intended. Be thankful for life and for rest and healing!

Hopefully some of these ideas for entertainment have inspired you or someone you know who's currently on bed-rest. Have you ever experienced being on restricted activity? What got you through?
