1. Get More Sleep
Can anyone be fabulous on three hours of sleep? I think not. If you’re feeling lousy lately, it might be the lack of good sleep catching up to you. I know it’s hard to say no to cook-outs and bon fires and parties, but your body and spirit need rest. Get yourself one of those cute sleep masks and use it for its intended purpose.
2. Quit Smoking
Smoking is a nasty habit, one that’s been linked to so many health issues and ultimately, in many cases, early death. It’s also been shown to sap your natural energy, so one of the best ways to feel better now and in the future is to quit smoking. Go cold turkey, get a patch, try hypnosis — anything that will work for you.

3. Exercise Regularly
Know it seems counter-intuitive, but expending energy to workout will actually give you more energy! Swim laps after work, take a yoga class, run each morning… find an exercise or activity you enjoy, and do it every day for more energy. Regular exercise has also been linked to a fit, tone body (hello!), and what feels better than that? It’s one of the best ways to feel better!
4. Eat Your Fruits and Veggies!
The USDA recommends that we all get 5 servings of fresh fruits and veggies every day, but hardly any of us do. And these little treats are packed with feel-good vitamins and minerals that are guaranteed to improve everything from your mood to your skin tone. Amazing! Add “eat my veggies” to your list of ways to feel better, stat!
5. Be Thankful
If you’re feeling blue, it may take a little doing, but try to think of a few things to be thankful for. At first, your Thankful List may start with “my boss isn’t a complete idiot all the time” but eventually, with a little practice, you’ll start to see, and rejoice in, the positives in your life, rather than focusing on the pesky negatives. It’s true! One of the best ways to feel better is to look at things with a thankful, rather than snarky, eye.

6. Ditch the Frenemies
Haters can be so draining! That’s why it’s best to ditch the people in your life who consistently bring you down. That girl from 10th grade who always insults your attire? Unfriend her! The lady at work who constantly gives you back-handed compliments? Unfriend her too! It’s impossible to feel good about anything with nay-sayers about. Get rid of them!
7. Get Help
Sweetie, if you’re feeling truly blue, and if it lasts for more than a few weeks, or if you’re thinking of harming yourself, then you need to seek help, right away, from a professional, like your doctor. Depression won’t go away on its own, and an attitude adjustment from me won’t help. You need treatment to feel better, and the sooner you get help, the quicker you’ll be on your path to fabulousness again.
How that you’ve dumped the negative Nancys and swapped chips for carrot sticks, you ought to be feeling a little better in no time… do all of these things at once, and you’ll be back to marvelous within minutes! Which of these ideas strikes your fancy the most? Or do you have another keen way to feel better you’d like to share? Please do!
