Witch Hazel

Using witch hazel is one of the best ways to take care of hemorrhoids! It’s affordable, simple to use, and really cuts down on the itching. It also speeds up the healing process! So dab a little bit on a few times a day using cotton balls and you will see an improvement soon.

2

Hydrocortisone Cream

Here is another at-home remedy that works wonders for hemorrhoids. Most doctors caution not to apply hydrocortisone cream to hemorrhoids any more than twice a day, and only externally. Using hydrocortisone cream relieves the pressure and itchiness that come with hemorrhoids, so it’s a good idea to apply a dab or two each day.

3

Flushable Wipes

Toilet paper can really aggravate the symptoms of hemorrhoids, as can tight underwear. So try using flushable wipes that usually get you clean with one or two swipes back there. Wear looser fitting underwear made with breathable materials to keep from further irritation as well!

4

Sitz Baths

Run a warm bath of two or three inches in your tub, and add a few tablespoons of Epsom salts to the water. Just sitting in the tub for 10-15 minutes will greatly reduce discomfort and heal your issue much quicker! Salt helps cleanse out the area, and don’t worry; it doesn’t sting very much at all. Only for a split second when you sit down, but then it feels great.

High Fiber Foods

Believe it or not, high fiber foods are a good way to help clear out hemorrhoids. The less pressure back there, the better, so you want to have softer stools. Adding more fiber to your diet makes it easier for you to go when you need to, and cuts down on the irritation from a hard bowel movement. You can try eating more green and leafy vegetables, as well as drinking apple juice to increase your fiber intake. And drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

Losing Weight

One of the major causes of hemorrhoids is too much pressure back there on a regular basis. That’s why many pregnant women deal with hemorrhoids at one point or another! Overweight people may also experience this discomfort. Losing a few extra pounds is something most of us have on our to-do list anyways, so go ahead and see if losing weight helps your condition!

Sitting for Long Periods of Time

Something that can aggravate the condition of hemorrhoids is sitting down on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Try to get breaks of standing and walking around if possible, or even lying on your side so there is no pressure whatsoever back there. This will just help to take off some of the pressure you feel.

There you have it, a few simple things you can do to be a little more comfortable if you are suffering from hemorrhoids! This situation can be painful and uncomfortable, but if you try to catch them before they escalate, you can normally contain the situation! What do you do to ease the discomfort of hemorrhoids?

Sitting for long periods of time does not work. I know this from experience

Stay away from hot sitz baths. Freeze some cubes of camomile tea and use them as such over the hemorrhoids or add the cubes in a camomile sitz bath, but please make sure the bath is more on the cold side, because the cold it will help shrink the hemorrhoids while the camomile will provide some comfort and speed the healing process. Also, make sure you wash after each toilet use and before the sitz bath.

Icing them!!! Only thing that truly works.
